All brewed coffee prepared by French Press. Are you kidding me? How amazing! This is pure dedication to great coffee. Today I had Panama Elida Estate that was sweet and full-bodied. This should be the new standard by which ALL coffee bars should be judged.\t\n\t\nMy wife is a fan of their 5 oz cappuccinos. Perfect every time. \t\n\t\nWe buy their Espresso No. 9 (whole bean, of course) for espresso at home. Better than Intelligenstia or Stumptown, in my humble opinion. \t\n\t\nIf you're a coffee fan, don't miss this.\t\n\t\nMy ""cons"" entry is the sad reality that there are many people in Sonoma county who feel the same way I do about this place. Thay can only serve so many people at a time. Please open another store!!! ...read more

They do not have a verbal policy at time of transaction nor a written policy about espresso bean grinding. Buy espresso at your own risk at this store. They ground my beans improperly so that they would not work in my espresso machine. Then they would not offer a refund. They did not state their policy at the time of transaction, nor when I returned the ground beans, nor is there a posted written policy statement. The employees were rude and ignorant of their policies. The CEO was inflexible. It seems that they do not care about customers ...read more

I spent 6 years working as a barista, and I'm very picky when it comes to espresso. Most espresso is too burnt, bitter, over-extracted and nasty (Starbucks & Aroma's for example). \t\n\t\nFlying Goat's espresso is almost always creamy, delicate, complex and delicious. They've recently (6/09) started serving ""Single Origin"" shots that feature beans from one locale, as opposed to a blend of beans. While this can be risky (blends help even out a coffee's flavor and acidity), the result can also be sublime. The Ethiopian Sidamo-Koratie is the best coffee I've ever had. Even my wife, who was never a fan of espresso will ask for a sip when I get a Koratie cappuccino. \t\n\t\nThe service is unfailingly friendly, attentive, and skilled. They often send staff to the world barista championships, and place! \t\n\t\nMy only complaint is that the ratio of espresso to milk can vary some from day to day (depending on how busy they are, and who's running the machine), but even at their 'worst' they are better than any other coffee shop I've found in Santa Rosa. \t\n\t\nThe pastries are good, but not great.\t\n\t\nI've been a loyal customer for years, and can't imagine that will ever change. ...read more

Big River Coffee Co

Big River Coffee Company's shade grown French Roast is one of the best coffees I've ever tasted, period. Smooth and robust, with a rich sweetness and a very smooth finish, this was what coffee should be. With a nice caffeine boost and low acid this coffee truly is, as the label states "Naturally Delicious". ...read more

The food has been consistently mediocre for 12+ years but at least it's consistent and the place is centrally located and open late. I've given up on the BBQ oysters just a huge disgusting mass of grey guck with underseasoned pesto or canned BBQ sauce. Garlic fries why do I eat fries with a bunch of raw mashed garlic? The beers are consistently uninteresting with the exception of the alt bier which is never available. Two points for being open late. ...read more
