You just never know what will inspire you!

Hello everyone! My name is Heidi Ashby, and I create Soft Sculpture Art Dolls.  It is a passion that I can not ignore.  I believe this passion began when I was a child, and my mom created a simple, willowy red-headed doll for our cat.  Yes, it was quite a sight to see him carrying her in his mouth, with legs dangling out of one side and her long red hair trailing on the ground on the other.  It inspired me!   You can see my Artist's Statement by visiting my website atwww.ashbysartfuldoll.com  as well as view my art dolls.  I also display some of my work onwww.etsy.com I hope that you will see in my dolls, the passion that I feel when I create them. On a personal note; I joined a Bunco group which meets once a month, and my turn to host is in May.  I wanted to put my "flair" on my hosting opportunity since we each have our own style.  I made up little score cards, via one of my other creative outlets, scrapping, and then it hit me.   I decided that I would make a Bunco doll.  You know, the object that gets passed around each time "BUNCO!" is yelled.  Some people immediately told me, "But Heidi, It might get messed up!  The way some of these women toss the Bunco toy around.  She'll get abused"   I answered, "Well, yes, but this dolly is for fun, and so be it if she gets a little mussed up."   It's funny how your passion for your art sometimes outweighs your knowledge that your art may suffer.  She will be a donation to the "cause."  I am so excited about the concept that I want to make her, regardless her outcome.   I will be starting her next week.  It's so hard to wait when I have other things I need to get done,  but  I must wait because chores can't get done if I'm sewing all day!  Artfully Yours, Heidi ...read more
