Gypsy Den

When I walked it, it was a bit awkward to be honest. I think that was mostly because I'm a tourist and had no clue where I was, though. I sat down and looked at the menu, which showed lots of yummy yummy options. I'm NOT a veggie hippie foodie kind of person, which this menu is honestly FULL of. It's not your all-american family restaurant by far, but then again, it doesn't claim to be. You can tell from the atmousphere. I had the Roast Turkey sandwich with cheddar cheese** and fried potato slices. And it was GOOOOOOOOD! I had never had sprouts on a sandwich before, but it was delicious! It had this light light layer of mustard, which I don't typically like, but it gave the sandwich a great kick! And the potato slices? Better than any fricken french fries I'd ever had. The sandwiches typically come with tortilla chips, but I opted to pay the 99 cents for the potato slices upgrade. I'm a french fry lover! (** the sandwich comes with provalone, but I really don't like that cheese, so they substituted cheddar for me) Overall, I love this place. Even though it's not typical food I'd eat, I'd go back and try a bunch of the other menu items. I'm a picky eater, and if you like healthy food, you'll LOVE this place. And even if you don't like healthy food, you'll find something to like. The restaurant was clean and very inviting, and my server was really a sweet guy and very very nice. They laughed at my brave touristyness in the end As far as pricing goes, it was REALLY reasonable. This place definitely won't break your wallet. ...read more

The Place: Located in Artist Village, the Gypsy Den is a bohemian treasure in Orange County. They offer veg or not cuisine, thrift-store/chic decor and live music events. The Food: The Gypsy Den serves up good food and sizeable portions at affordable prices. Their French Fried Potato Slices are THE best. Their hot and cold sandwiches are good too; non-veg, try the Chicken Graziano; veg, try the Marianated Veg Sandwich. Avoid their Nachos (I am a Nachos connoisseur). They serve Breakfast (until 11:30am), Lunch and Dinner Entrees (my fav din entrees? Their Mac & Cheese, and their Veg Lasagna). + they make their own breads + chic, boheme decor + located in 'artist village' + outdoor seating + serve alcohol - the staff can a) sometimes be very oblivious to customers and b) a bit rude - if they have a live music event planned, the den can turn into loud amateaur night (and beware you may be forced to move tables in mid-dining) ...read more

ION™ Light Engines to Exhibit at The LED Show, Las Vegas

Firm's president, Richard Farrell, will present an overview of the LED-Array as a light source during the Speaker Conference Program on August 27, 2010 IONâ„¢ Light Engines, a leading developer of high-performance LED-Array light engines, today announced that it will exhibit at the upcoming LED Show at the Rio Hotel, Las Vegas, NV, August 27. ION's president, Richard Farrell, is participating in the Speaker Conference Program and will present an overview of the LED-Array as a light source, highlighting its performance, versatility, scalability, and design applications. ION will showcase its proprietary LED-Array component light engines at exhibit booth, #22. Mr. Farrell's presentation is slated to begin at 4:10pm. "ION is a wonderful addition to The LED Show," commented James Highgate, president of the Lighting Group and director of the LED Show." "Their LED-Array is truly an innovative solution with tons of design applications. It's a creative implementation of LEDs for back lighting that yields very even and diffuse illumination," said Mr. Highgate. The ION light engines are innovative, component LED-Arrays that provide perfectly even illumination at a close distance from the LEDs (1.5 inches). The proprietary modular design features a high density of low-watt LEDs mounted on a phenolic substrate for optimum performance and thermal management. Available in a variety of sizes, ION light engine component modules are easy to configure. This "building block" approach has the flexibility, scalability as well as the styling to create an unlimited range of dynamic lighting products. "We're encouraged by the growing awareness of LED technology, its benefits, and its diverse applications," stated Richard Farrell, president of ION Light Engines. "We've invested heavily in R&D; over the past two-and-a-half years and have optimized LEDs in component arrays that perform well, are simple, easy to use, energy-efficient, and cost-effective. We see great potential among architects, integrators, and designers in all fields for the ION Light Engine," said Mr. Farrell.    ...read more
