Mission To support Chinese opera musicians in fostering effective and informed Cantonese opera teaching practices, developing high quality, and designing student learning assessment tools to uphold the founder, Sanny Lam’s commitment to bearing spread. History The seed of the Prominent Chinese Opera Institute (PCOI) was planted in 1996 when Sanny Lam first contacted Cantonese opera and became a keen interest in this Chinese art. She rented the current address and renovated the poorly demaged place into a most beautiful, in those days, and equipped Chinese music studio in the Bay Area. As soon as PCOI launched in August 1998, she coordinated a opera class every Saturday and singing rehearsal 3 days a week for instructors and students. The workshops were such a hit that they have continued for and within 5 years, she has organized many vocal recitals and opera shows including her own concerns. In 2003, She left and sold the place to one of her coach, sifu Ben due to busy schedules at work while she started working for the office of Governor Gray Davis as the liaison. But her contributions to PCOI, and constant helps to different non-profit organizations such as On Loh Senior Center, Red Cross and Self-Help for The Elderly, etc. never been forgotten in the community. ...read more
