Fire Chief Bill Paskle of the Alpine Fire Protection district says the 40-year-old man was working near two hives of Africanized honeybees on Wednesday in Alpine when about 40,000 bees from one hive attacked. Paskle tells KSWB-TV that the man ran up the street to a liquor store. He was stung at least 10 times and treated at a hospital for an allergic hospital. A professional bee remover, Dan Wasson, says the sound of the gardener's weed-eater may have prompted the bees to attack. Honey and Allergies

Honey is purported to help ease indigestion, relieve constipation and even grow hair. Not all of these claims are as absurd as they might seem at first glance. Honey has long been recognized for its anti-microbial activities and was a favorite dressing for serious wounds for centuries. Honey is also high in antioxidants, a group of nutrients that, among other things, may help lower your risk of some types of cancer. But perhaps the most interesting therapeutic use for honey is as a natural remedy for seasonal allergies. According to various natural health practitioners, the tiny amounts of pollen found in locally-grown raw honey work over time to desensitize the body to a particular allergen--not unlike the way traditional allergy shots work. If honey is proven to work as a safe, natural allergy treatment, it's almost certain that the best form of honey to take is pure, raw honey that hasn't been heated or extensively filtered. If you'd like to try honey for your allergies, contact All Bee Management and let them know that you're interested in raw honey for allergies. Allergies arise from continuous over-exposure to the same allergens. If, for example, you live in an area where there is a great deal of red clover growing, and if in addition you often feed red clover hay to your own horses or cattle, then it likely you are exposed over and over to pollen from this same red clover. Now, red clover pollen is not especially allergenic but still, with time, a serious allergy to it can easily arise.Another example: if you lived in a southern area where bottlebrush trees were frequently used in the landscapes or perhaps you had a bottlebrush tree growing in your own yard, your odds of over-exposure to this tree's tiny, triangular, and potently very allergenic pollen is greatly enhanced. In the two examples used above, both species of plants are what we call amphipilous, meaning they are pollinated by both insects and by the wind. Honeybees will collect pollen from each of these species and it will be present in small amounts in honey that was gathered by bees that were working areas where these species are growing. When people living in these same areas eat honey that was produced in that environment, the honey will often act as an immune booster. The good effects of this local honey are best when the honey is taken a little bit (a couple of teaspoons-full) a day for several months prior to the pollen season. You may not live in the area where there are red clover or bottlebrush tree's near or around your home but the example extends to popular trees and bushes that surround you and your family. The same rule applies. If you take a couple of tea spoons of local honey as describe the chance are you can be releved of allergy symtoms. Good LuckAll Bee ManagementAJ ...read more

Honey and Cancer

Honey is Anti-Cancer! "Is honey one of those anti-cancer foods? Can it cure cancer?" From time to time, I receive these questions from "Just Ask". Our heart goes out to those whose lives are troubled and threatened by cancer, but I had to reply and inform them that honey is not an antidote for cancer or a "cure-all". Perhaps what many people don't think enough of or have overlooked is - honey possesses carcinogen-preventing and anti-tumor properties; honey is curative; honey is anti-cancer. According to the book Honey Revolution by Dr Ron Fessenden, scientists have found floral flavonoids in honey. These tiny traces of bio flavonoids, generally known as antioxidants, have powerful influences when entered into the body's cells. When ingested, they immediately increase the antioxidant levels within cells, "decrease capillary permeability and fragility. They scavenge oxidants and inhibit the destruction of collagen in the body". In fact in the recent years, major drug companies recognised the effectiveness of these flora-flavones in removing free radicals from our body and improving our body immunity functioning, and are now investing millions of dollars just to produce these substances artificially. Tell your family, friends that the foraging honey bess have passed on these precious natural floral-flavones from the floral nectars to honey and then to us! Look, you may not see the benefit of turning to healthful food overnight, but daily repetitive, anti-cancer choices will can potentially safe your life from deadly diseases like cancers. Surely all of us know that prevention is far better than cures, but sadly, the world has succumbed to the instant gratification syndrome. Just see how people are losing weight so quickly by taking diet pills, getting liposuction, or even starving. Working out things over time has become a waste of time. We want material wealth, relationships, and success now, totally abandoning the universal law of sowing and reaping. And with the exact attitude, we often put all our strength and focus into demanding instant cures of diseases and forget all about constant prevention with anti-cancer diet and lifestyle. Bee Removal/Bee Attacks

As officers searched the canyon for the stolen SUV, the bees attacked. one of the officers radioed that he had been stung 20 to 30 times. The other reported being chased by the bees and that he had also been stung. Luckily Both Officers Were Alright: A man stung as many as 500 times from head to toe by a swarm of bees in Encinitas has died, San Diego County health officials said. Marco Lazaro, 54, was operating a backhoe at Manchester Ave. and Pacific Ranch Dr. at about 11 a.m. Wednesday when he disturbed the hive. Experts say up to 80,000 bees were unleashed. Lazaro ran about 200 yards to an outhouse in an attempt to escape. By the time paramedics arrived, the diabetic man had been stung hundreds of times and was in full cardiac arrest. He was transported to Scripps Encinitas where he was pronounced dead. The victim's 20-year-old nephew was stung twice, but was expected to be okay. Longtime neighbor Dan Moriarty has known Lazaro and his family for over 30 years.   "It was accident, a terrible accident," he said, "I was next door when it happened.  He's a very, very nice fellow.  Hard working guy." ...read more
