I don't have insurance and really needed an eye doctor with great prices who still gave solid, professional service. Dr. Robert Howard at Eye Care Plus is the one. I was able to get probably the best eye exam i have ever had and a pair of well made eye glasses for a very fair price. The glasses are on point and I get compliments on them all the time. My wife went to see Dr. Howard too and she got an exam plus her contact lenses. The office is very nice and convenient hours including Saturday which helps a lot. I had a great experience with this office and Dr. Howard. Needed glasses and an eye exam in a hurry before a trip. The staff was friendly and knowledgable and they helped me pick out a great frame. The doctor did my exam and then had the tech make my glasses up for me right after the exam. I haven't seen this well in at least 5 years. I would recommend Dr. Howard and Eye Care Plus to anyone who needs a thorough eye exam and glasses with fast service. ...read more

By Wellness Jedi. There is a synthetic version of marijuana, and it is called Marinol. It is the drug companies’ answer to their desire, but inability, to sell marijuana. But Spice has absolutely no connection to the cannabis plant or Marinol. So why do reporters and others continue to make the correlation between the highly processed, chemical mashup that is Spice, and what we all know as the natural substance, marijuana? Your guess is as good as mine. But maybe my guess may be better. #1. Marijuana sells. More and more people are learning of its healing and therapeutic properties. Many states have medical laws in place allowing patients to use cannabis for medical conditions and the symptoms associated with many disease. And a couple of states have passed recreational laws. #2. Marijuana has a reputation for being safe. This correlation is dangerous because it sends the public, including children and teens, mixed and blatantly wrong messages about the 2 substances. Spice is highly dangerous and unpredictable. Because manufacturers are constantly changing the make-up of what is in Spice in order to avoid prosecution and continuing manufacturing it, there is no telling what is in one batch or the next. News stories highlight multiple overdoses in any given area based on a “bad batch.” And because the truly non-toxic, non-addictive qualities of cannabis are known to many adolescents and adults, labeling something as “synthetic marijuana” has implied amounts of safety that simply aren’t present in the unregulated product known as Spice. #3. There is a public push to keep marijuana “off the streets” and out of the hands of minors. All the while, the dangers of other substances are glossed over or ignored. The leftover reefer madness mentality does much more harm than good. While we, as a society, should be educating the youth about the truths of various drugs, we are failing then by perpetuating untrue myths and fabrications about the cannabis plant and not focusing enough on alcohol, prescription pain killers, and other harder drugs that can actually be lethal, and are highly addictive. Recently, I was on my daughter’s high school campus and the only sign on a billboard was warning about the “detrimental” effects of smoking marijuana and no mention of help or education regarding any other drug. Spice is in no way a form of marijuana. It is a dangerous mix of chemicals that bring on a range of dangerous and unpredictable symptoms in those who use it. By Wellness Jedi You hear about people getting cancer every day. Sometimes it’s a co-worker, sometimes it’s the parent of a friend, and in really heart wrenching circumstances, it might be a child. The question that I have asked myself many times is “what would I do if it were my parent, what would I do if it were my wife, what would I do if it were my child?” It’s a frightening scenario to push your imagination into, but an important one, because there is so much information out there and even more misinformation. If a health crisis arises, I want to be informed enough to work with doctors and health practitioners to devise a plan. Not simply succumb to the chemo, surgery route. And taking that one step further, why isn’t there a health team teaching my family and I how to prevent cancer in the first place? In this technologically advanced world, why is preventative health care still in the dark ages? The health care system in this country, or what is being disguised as a health care system, is often so confusing, so difficult to navigate, and in many instances, fails people who turn to it for help. Many physicians just come back with the easy answer – but not really a solution – another prescription to mask another symptom, and “worry about the side effects later.” This is not health care, this is symptom masking. This is not health care, this is legal drug pushing. I hear stats about what the average cancer patient is “worth” to the system. The whole thing is despicable. And all the while, insurance refuses to cover alternative treatments, and states continue to deny people access to ancient medicines like Cannabis. So on a general level, I know what I would do if it were someone close to me that was diagnosed with cancer, or some other potentially fatal disease. I would turn to a place that could help me weigh the pros and cons of Western medicine because they didn’t stand to to profit from it. I would turn to a place who could offer me information and education on other scientifically proven methods of supporting healing even, and sometimes more importantly, when coupled with a Western regiment. Not that I have found the magic answer, but investing in one’s health before something tragic develops, and having a trusted physician, health practitioner, or team of both, to help prioritize and advocate for a healthy lifestyle, could help many make great strides toward health, at any stage of life.
