Filter and Engine Oil Change Motor oil helps lubricate and cool the engine while its running. It also acts as a sealant for internal components within the engine. This is why the engine oil and filter needs to be checked at regular intervals. In fact, it should be a crucial part of any car owner’s maintenance checklist mainly because, failing to do so could lead to a buildup of contaminants in the engine and shorten the engine’s life. Repair and Maintenance of the Cooling System The antifreeze or coolant in a vehicle raises the boiling point and lowers the freezing point of the cooling system whenever distilled water is added to the mix. Making sure that the coolant level is precise can keep the vehicle from breaking down while on the road. In fact, something as simple as delaying a thermostat replacement could lead to an overheating engine and can also blow the gasket, which will cause further repair expense. Filter and Fluid Change of Automatic Transmission The transmission fluid in an automobile provides much-needed hydraulic power and also doubles as a lubricant and cooling agent for the moving parts within a vehicle’s transmission. This means the level of fluid needs to be precise in order for the transmission to function properly. If transmission fluid is low, it could result in transmission slipping. On the other hand, the transmission can be seriously damaged due to aeration if the level of transmission fluid is too high.
