As parents we want the best for our children. We want to cherish them, give them the tools in which to help them succeed. We want nothing but for them to sprout their wings and fly...and if we have done it correctly, they will always be buzzing around and as the season change, they will return home. We can refer to that as, " full circle of life!" Those of us who skillfully evolve to good parents, will can and should create an emotional safe zone for our children. I have been around long enough to see some good old fashion parenting stay in our culture and traditions while some new one develope because of time, evolution of society and more!! With computers, broadcast, cell phones and media - our world is getting smaller. With modern technology you would think all cultures in life will begin to meld together. Once upon a time, when you immigrated to America...the emigrating parents wanted you to learn to speak English as well as learn the language themselves. It was an honor to speak and communicate in English!! Now the older generations that immigrate here hold onto their languages, forcing America now to say on business recordings, "press one for English". Why not just speak english and "press one for spanish, two for ??". Now- a-days American children are changing. Society is changing. Parenting is changing! Children are encouraged to speak/express their feelings and it's even permissable to shout their feelings of dismay to adults! Some parents allow their children to yell hateful phrases to their parents!!!. Why are the parents letting their children be so disrespectful ?? Do parents really believe they think the child will grow out of this behaviour?? About 16-18 years ago I witness the parenting technique that seem to be prevalient during that time. It was called NOT being the parent, but wanting to be friend's . Upon any reprimanding of the child, the child was offered options, well, fifteen years later, we now have a bunch of negotiators that will not just do what they are asked, but now give parents, teachers options!!
