WHAT IT MEANS TO BE ACCREDITED BY NAEYC

Over the years, we have made significant strides in increasing the quality of our infant care, toddler program, preschool and prekindergarten which we offer to the local community.  We have adopted The National Association for the Education of Young Children's (NAEYC's) standards for high quality child care in the U.S, which reflect the latest research in child development and best practices. We are so grateful to have gone through an extensive validation process by the NAEYC, which independently certifies our quality. According to a study by First 5 California, as published on their website, only 3 per cent of child care providers in California have high quality care, with 86 per cent classified as "mediocre", and 11 per cent as "poor"quality. In order to become accredited, we went through an extensive self-study process, measuring and improving our program over time, according to NAEYC standards. NAEYC representatives have visited us and validated our practices against its recommended best practices. We were first accredited in 2006. Our new accreditation is valid for 5 years, until Sept. 1, 2016.Sequoia Children's Center offers full service child care services in Redwood City, California.  ...read more
