Hello, my name is "Light" and I own and am the lead artist for FACE the PAINT a professional Face and Body Painting Company (www.FACEthePAINT.com) Working as an artist is the most absolute fun and the most difficult job I have ever done. I have worked in several careers in my life, so I have never been bored. After my college, I have instructed English classes of all types at a university, I have been a microbiology lab instructor and lab tech for a college, I ran my own daycare, I trained horses to show at Class A Horse Shows nationally, and now I am a Face and Body Painter of many years. It may sound odd, but I actually bring home more money with my art than with all the education I have received and with all the experience in other fields have brought me. And art has always been a sideline for me. So it made perfect sense to begin creating again with my art. I have Face Painted before there were "true" Face Painters. I would go out as a teen and bring my mother's makeup and "paint" children for 4th of July parties in the park and for family gatherings, just for fun. As a young mother, I continued to "paint" for my son's parties and for their school events. It wasn't long until I found out there was actual MAKEUP for Face Painting and began collecting my stash of all things FACE PAINT. After a few years, of working real jobs, and finishing my college education, I began teaching, but still kept up my Face Painting for city functions and my son's parties, and I painted everyone I knew for every Halloween. Something happened, and I had to stop teaching at the university, so I began looking back into working full time with my art. And oh was I surprised at all the new supplies and additional Face and Body painting materials out there! I quickly began collecting my upscale stash of the "made for skin" paints (MAKEUP) and cosmetic grade supplies that had just been introduced to the market. I soon had more makeup and supplies that my husband could believe. In the beginning, he felt it was just more of my lovely art I made, but what didn't really bring in much income. After buying a domain name and creating my web site, and began marketing. I started to get "real" jobs from cities and corporations and individual parties and events. I also began attending professional Face and Body Conventions all over the US. Within that month, I jumped from a beginner to a intermediate Face and Body Painter. After a couple more months, my work was growing and I become the official Face Painters for corporations and later, for the City of Santa Cruz. It is years later, and my heart still skips a beat when I know I worked on my marketing, my artwork, my techniques and build a full time job out of my love of art. The reason Face Painting is difficult, is that I am always looking to make it better and to expand and learn more. There are wonderful people in my "tribe" of Face and Body Painters. I am blessed with many, many true and helpful great friends.
