Complete Step-by-Step Guide To Launch a Mobile App

The mobile app launch can become quite the overwhelming procedure unless you’re in good hands as far as mobile app development is concerned. The reason we decided to tap on to something like this topic is that the next time you make a mobile app or launch your startup, you don’t repeat the mistakes that many startups and entrepreneurs do in their first few failed attempts. If you’re thinking: You haven’t made any mistakes this far, I don’t need any advice! You’ve hired the best mobile app development company on the market, I’m good! You’ve created your mobile app based on a trend, and it’s the best thing ever! Then, let me tell you something. When startup founders float their ideas in terms of their product, they have the entire project designed in their mind and they expect people to download by the millions and love it. This is what they think and perceive based on their success imagination.  Yet, this is rarely the way things end up and the end result is usually totally different. The Founder and CEO of Niantic labs, (the company behind the viral game Pokemon Go), explained that it took 20 years to make an overnight success.  It took decades and many titles released and experience to have a huge augmented reality hit game success to come.  It also required the technology to catch up to a vastly viral game quickly adopted by anyone curious enough and owning a smart phone. This is for startups, buddy entrepreneurs, and brands who are looking forward to launching their mobile apps as well as launching their app-based startups. In this article, I’m going to share three DON’Ts of launching a mobile app: 1: Copying the idea of someone else This could be the biggest disaster any entrepreneur or startup would ever do. Do not ever blatantly copy someone’s idea, even if you think…unless you can make it at least 10 times better as Peter Thiel mentions. Thiel states that a successful business needs to make a product/service that is 10 times better than its closest competitor especially if you are looking for Venture Capital Funding. People will always encourage or support the idea of the brand who floated the concept at first. For instance, Instagram brought Stories, which was pretty much the same thing that Snapchat is known for. Then, the internet reacted this way. So, it’s a NO GO for startups and brands who are looking to launching their mobile apps. Never ever do this. If you haven’t got a better idea, then wait for it, and don’t invest your time, money, and energy into something that would be tagged as a copied thing. 2: Creating a Product around specific Mobile OS No matter how big a fanatic of a certain mobile OS you’re, you would have to admit that other operating systems do exist. For instance, if you’re an iPhone fan, so once you decide to launch your own mobile app as your startup, you can’t simply ignore the plan of launching the app for Android. Well what about Windows?  Meh..  Gartner has shown that as of 2016 99.6% of all smartphone sales in the fourth quarter of 2016.  Further to be broken down Android accounts for 81.7%, iOS 17.9% and Windows a shrinking 0.3%. However, with that said the iTunes app stores brings in 75% more revenue than Android Play Store even though the differences in phones in the market. I’ve seen startups that started off with just iPhone app and ultimately they brought their Android versions too because you can’t ignore a whole heap of people who are waiting for the product on the other platform. Ultimately, it depends on who your target audience is – millennials in the US = iOS, blue collared workers field issues apps = Android.  Why?  Well you have to take into account millennials will save months of wages serving Starbucks for an iPhone.  Corporations don’t want to buy 10’s of thousands of $900 iPhones especially if they are highly likely to break them on the job.  Regardless, think it through if not you someone will create a product of similar nature to fill up the gap. You don’t want to make the mistake of missing out on your market share for the operating systems so think these things ahead. Do you remember Meerkat came out just for iOS and then after a long time, they released the Android version? Same was the case with the Beme. 3: Paid App at the beginning of the journey There isn’t any problem with launching a paid mobile app whether it’s based on in-app purchase model or just a regular paid app on Android or iOS. The point is, most of the paid apps on the market are of the highest quality and they haven’t just come on a whim or trend. Their makers have spent very long hard hours producing the apps. Many of the paid apps get released after a long journey of the free versions. Some mobile apps or games offer in-app purchases. Pokemon Go has an in-app purchase system. Angry Birds has the paid edition. So it depends on the maker of the game. But as far as startups are concerned, they don’t have to bring the paid mobile apps in the beginning. They should release a few products for free and when they find something extra ordinary idea to create a product after spending some time on the market, then they could release that paid mobile app. CitrusBits is a fantastic mobile app development company that helps startups in building their mobile apps. The team at CitrusBits knows what it takes to convert the idea into a reality. No matter it’s your first product or you have been around for years, we will cater everyone with the best ability. Contact us for your app development and we will take care of rest of the problem. ...read more
