I am going through a modification and while in the OC family court I observed attorney Yanez in action and was quite impressed. I then followed her and asked her for her contact information. I asked the court bailiffs about attorney Yanez and they had nothing but nice things to say about her and her practice. In fact one of the bailiff stated, “She’s awesome”. She knows her law and is very sociable. Study Shows Male Jurors More Likely to Find Fat Females Guilty
A recent study showed that male members of a jury are more likely to find a defendant guilty if the defendant is an overweight female. A recent study by Yale University psychologists, showed that the males who participated in the study were more inclined to believe that a fat woman was a repeat offender who had malicious intent. The women in the test group appeared to have no prejudice against the larger male and female defendants. The researchers assembled a group of 471 people of varying weight and presented to them a fictional case of check fraud. They also presented them with one of four photographs of the fictional defendants, which consisted of either a large man, a slim man, a large woman, or a slim woman. The participants rated the defendant’s guilt on a five-point scale. No fat bias was present when the females in the group evaluated the female defendants or when either men or women assessed the guilt of the men. But when the males pronounced judgment on the female defendants the appearance of the defendant did factor into their decision. The skinnier male jurors took the accusations to a step further – The males were found to be “significantly more likely” to find the fat women defendants guilty rather than the slim ones. The slimmer males were the harshest, frequently labeling the fat women “repeat offenders” with “awareness” of their crimes. Curiously enough, the women had little to no weight bias towards any of the defendants and there was no fat-bias by either the men or the women in the test group when assessing male defendants of any size.
