Red Lion Hotel Oakland International Airport

Very satisfied so far. The young woman at the front desk was was welcoming and professional. The room is clean, spacious, and well-appointed with desk, breakfast table, and flat screen tv. The bed was very comfortable; we like a firm bed. The vanity needs a hook or towel bar placed higher for hanging toiletry bags.\t\nThe hotel is near the airport, so it is not a scenic area. I didn't see any vagrants, still I wouldn't walk around here at night,. The hotel itself is safe and quiet at night. Light traffic noise in the day. If you want scenery and Oakland airport shuttle, I'd recommend the Marina Inn in San Leandro. But for proximity to Oakland and SF this is a great value.\t\nI wish there was a complementary breakfast, but continental or full breakfast can be pre-ordered through room service or ordered in the restaurant. The wireless Internet works very well.\t\nCons: No scenery. It is an older, updated hotel. \t\nWe are very satisfied with this hotel. It is worth more than the price we paid on Hotwire. ...read more

The Diggery Inn

A classic breakfast diner-y type place with a nice selection of salads and burgers too. You can see the kitchen, so you know it's clean. There wasn't any music, so we could hear the buzzing of all of the kitchen appliaces. Other than that - a good experience. Most of the items on the menu were $6.99 or less. I had a cobb salad that was probably a million calories, bursting with crispy bacon, fresh lettuce, avacado, an egg, and blue cheese. Completely off my diet but really delicious. My friend had a BLT with a fruit cup on the side. We watched our waitress prepare the fruit cup by cutting up fresh fruit - a very nice touch. A must for breakfast or brunch if you find yourself in Glenview! ...read more
