Auditions Bay Area Comedy Training

Every four months we hold auditions for our comedy improv performance program. It is an exciting time. Many people visit Pan for the first time. We meet many talented people interested in exploring improv theater. Some of those that audition have prior training but many of those that audition are new to improv. The auditions are relatively low key. Those auditioning are led through some warm-up exercises and then they get to perform improvised scenes with others auditioning. Many of those that attend often thank us for the change to get up and play on the Pan stage. If your around and want to try your hand at comedy improv in the East Bay stop by one of the auditions. They are scheduled for February 13th, 16th, 17th and 20th. For more information visit the link below: Get the details on Pan's auditions! ...read more

Improv Basics

Our next round of Basics starts in September. This is Pan's improv 101. The class covers the basic concepts of improv and provides an introduction to our style. Many of Pan's performers in both the Afters and Awkward Face began their improv training with Improv Basics. Teaching Improv Basics keeps me grounded and humble. Seeing people that have never before get on stage, or perform improv before take risks and play is fulfilling. Watching the growth in technique, understanding of the art and self confidence in such a short time is rewarding. The technique and exercises do the work and as I teach I do my best act as a guide. It is the experience and exercises that do most of the teaching. The coach provides the sense of safety and encouragement. Our last two IB classes filled up fast. It will be at the Eureka Theater in SF. This is the first Pan performance in San Francisco in three years. It coincides with our expanded show schedule. The Afters and Awkward Face are performing at Pan on Friday and Awkward Face performs at Pan on Saturday evening. Our shows are one block from BART. The SF Improv Festival has a ton of other great shows lined up including a talk about the troupe that launched improv in the Bay Area - the Committee.
