There are a number of self storage management software programs available on the market, all basically the same in nature.  Except for one.  Schmitt & Co. has contracted with SMD Software to convert all of their self storage facilities to SMD's branded software program called SiteLink WebEdition. The key to managing self storage properties from a distance is the ability to see the day-to-day operations from any workstation.  This can be done with SiteLink WebEdition as all data is stored in a centrally located server accessed via the Internet.  An important quality of effective off-site self storage management is the ability to recognize the tools that each self storage property manager can work with productively.  SiteLink gives each manager different options of what might work better for their own facility.  Looking at a property visual such as their site map or using the navigator screen presents a starting point that identifies the needs of the facility for the day (credit card processing, lien letters, collection calls, scheduled rent raises).  Getting through the admistrative tasks efficiently provides more time for the manager to spend on their customers. ...read more
