If you haven't posted to your Facebook, Twitter and or Linkedin account in weeks, months, years... or ever... and the just the thought of logging into your account creeps you out... (and you're a business owner) then keep reading. I've had accounts at these social media sites for years. But I rarely posted anything because ( as I often told myself ) I was just too busy running my business, keeping my clients happy, learning new tricks, etc. Well, recently I signed up for a month of online classes at www.lynda.com. (I'm not affiliated, just a fan.) In any case, I wanted to learn how to write better HTML5 code... and I stumbled across the class entitled: Social Media Marketing with Facebook and Twitter. That was yesterday. At my grandson's little league game today, one of the moms asked me how Twitter would help my business. I laughed because the instructor on the video advised that most people will ask you this question because (generally) people think Twitter is for celebrity following. But what I learned - and I had not considered - is how other businesses (who use Twitter&Facebook) are helping each other increase their visibility. When I searched for other web developers and marketers, I was delighted to find a treasure trove of awesome connection both tweeting and Facebooking. I'm not quite prepared to say I'm completely comfortable posting on social media, but I'm re-thinking the benefits. Well, I better get back to my class.
