Would you rather have QUALITY work done on your teeth or BEST PRICE for with no quality? I would not recommend Western Dental to anyone. I personally had to point out to the dentist my broken tooth, he argued I did not have one, of which that was the reason I came in for. Finally, the dentist notice the broken tooth. The front office is unorganized, they have no idea what they're doing. If you make an appt. it will take most of your day up. One women iwith 2 children who was waiting before me had an appt at 9am. My appt was at 11:00, and she still had not been seen (or her children). UNACCEPTABLE! ...read more
I've spoken with a myriad of people who want to do something different in terms of a career change. The major concern is, of course, the time ....and the money. There have been Moms with young families, and Moms returning to the workplace. Young men who served as former dental personnel while in the armed forces seeking a return to the marketplace. There have been the 30-and 40- somethings who are looking for a way into a second career ....and the student who needs a way to earn a reasonable living while still attending school. People from the building industry, mortgage business or real estate have faced job cuts. Everyone who has inquired about the NSDA, all had one thing in common. They didn't want to have to spend a lot of time or a lot of money to "get going". They realize it's a first step but it's one that's manageable! In case you wondered about Dental Assisting as a career but you don't have the time to spend sitting in class everyday for 9-12 months. There is now a viable option. You can say how much you'll spend. You'll be able to decide when and on what! The National School of Dental assisting has made it so you can keep your regular daytime schedule - whether you're working a job, talking care of the family or attending other classes! At the NSDA, the job of Dental Assisting is taught through an accelerated, condensed program, emphasizing a Hands-On approach. There are other schools offering 10 Saturdays - but we feel that the more time you have to practice, the better prepared you'll be! Compare: NSDA offers 152+ hours of training / Other schools: 80 -88 hours The Laws in California are changing. In January 2010, if you have 12 months experience in a dental office, along with x-ray and coronal polishing classes, you will be able to apply for a license without challenging the current test as we know it! NSDA is getting students ready for that now. No, you don't have to be a licensed RDA to work in a dental office. In fact, many skilled Dental Assistants are working without a license. The scope of their duties are limited, however. I know one young lady who learned Basic Dental Assisting, and then worked 4 years on the job. She has since decided to go back to college to get her degree in Dental Hygiene. When she left her job 3 years ago she was making $20/hour without a license. Of course, salaries are dictated by how much you know, how fast you become, and the area in which you work. As a Practice Management Consultant, I've seen the need for good assistants in the various dental office for which I have consulted. Committed, skilled assistants are priceless!
