Men with heavy Indian accents are phoning individuals trying to intimidate or scare them into paying payday loan debts that are either old or not theirs. They profess to be with companies such as Allied Financial Services, CashNetUSA, Advanced Credit Recovery, CashLand, and Cash America and many other official sounding or credible names. These are fraudulent debt collectors. These fake debt collectors callsstate you will be arrested and put in jail unless you send off money to them right away. They will even threaten to call your place of employment and give details to your boss or that you have a court case against you when you were never notified to start with. Some individuals are getting voice mails to even have their attorney call them back which is just a another one of their scare tactics. The amounts they are seeking from individuals are roughly between $400 or $1,000. These telphone calls are usually received on a Friday or weekend when government offices or the payday lenders you supposedly owe money to are closed. Their objective of this scam is to scare the person into transferring money via Money Gram, Western Union or to give out their bank account info, in order to stop them from having the police from coming to arrest you. But don't forget you cannot and will not be arrested for not paying a debt. Not paying back a debt is a Civil matter. The callers show real phone numbers in the US but these so called debt collectors are calling from a call center in India using a Voice Over IP address. Again, the names of the payday loan companies given is false. The fake debt collectors use both the name of a real payday loan outfit and even a real attorney to make the person think its official if they check it out on the web. Again, its completely false. If you receive this sort of call whether you owe the debt or not get a hold of the original creditor and seek information regarding this.
