Trang An Eco-Tourist Site - A Must-See Place in Vietnam

About Trang An eco-tourist site   Trang An eco-tourist site belongs to Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex, Ninh Binh province. It covers an area of 2,168 hectares and just 90km from Hanoi. Trang An contains outstanding values of geomorphology, archeology and aesthetics, so it was honored and recognized by UNESCO as the World Cultural and Natural site.   The whole scene of Trang An is majestic with magnificent mountains together with a small winding spring that connects caves and pristine and incredible beautiful valleys. Visiting Trang An, tourists will experience different feelings when discover the root of the human life, enjoy the pure beauty and exquisite ambience and feel proud of the golden dynasties of the Kings like: Đinh Tien Hoang, Le Dai Hanh and Ly Thai To. The combination of different kinds of tourism such as Ecotourism, Spirituality and historical relics make thetourto Trang An become so fantastic. Besides, the local people here are very friendly and helpful and make you feel like home.   As planned, Trang An eco-tourism site has 9 water trip routes and 2 road trip routes. However, just 1 road route and 1 water route are put into operation to serve tourists.   The road trip route is 1,6km length which starts from Cay Bang wharf. This is a very interesting route. Visitors will trek and climb through 3 passes: Cay pass (with the height of 60m), Vai pass and the pass of Tran temple. The way has been built with large stone steps. There are 7 houses built by iron wood where visitors can have a rest when climbing up to the mountains.   The water trip route and mountain climbing combined: Visitors will sit on the boat rowed by the very friendly and hospitable local people through 12 caves and 3 spirituality tourist destinations. This is a closed route. Visitors will start the boat trip from the center wharf. To reach Tran temple, visitors will go through Dia Linh cave, Toi cave, Sang cave and then get on the land, climb up about 500 stone steps to thurify at Tran temple. Next, visitor get on the boat to visit Sinh cave, Si cave, Ba Giot cave, Seo cave and Son Duong cave to Bao Hieu pagoda. After that, continue the route to Khong cave, Tran cave and Quy Hau cave, then come back to the starting point to finish the trip. Dia Linh cave:The cave has 300m length with so beautiful stalactites that rare cave can have. The old name of the cave is Chau Bau (or Treasure) cave because when visiting the cave, you will have a feeling of getting lost in the treasure store. For it has just been exploited, the stalactites are all intact, very white and sparkling like diamond, gold and gem. Toi cave:The cave is 320m length. Because inside the cave is very winding and tortuous so the sunlight can not come in. Therefore, people call the cave is Toi (Dark).  Because of this name, so many visitors feel curious and very eager to discover the cave. Sang cave:The cave is called Sang (Light or Bright), but you still need the light when visiting the cave. It has 112m length and 12m width. The highest point inside the cave is 12m height with many amazing stalactites falling down from the roof of the cave with many different names depending on the imagination of tourists and local people. From Dark cave to the Bright cave expresses the aspiration of people:after the rain comes sun, dark will turn bright, after winter comes spring.   Nau Ruou cave:The cave is 250m in length. Legend has it that, the cave had 10 meter deeper artesian water which run till the ancient capital Hoa Lu. In the pass, people came here to get water for cooking wine for the Kings. During archaeological research, scientists have discovered a lot of pots, jars and wine cooking utensils. Therefore, this cave has been call “Nau ruou” cave or “Wine cooking” cave. Tran temple:The temple was built under the Dinh dynasty. At that time, the temple had the name Noi Lam (inside the forest). In the 13rd century, king Tran Thai Tong restored the temple and changed its name to Tran temple. The temple was built to worship the famous general Quy Minh and his wife. This is a very sacred temple, therefore, so many people come here to pray for peace, happiness and children. How To Get There: From Hanoi, visitor can take a shutter bus to Trang An.  It takes about 1.5 hours for distance of 120km.
