I spoke to Charles yesterday about doing a quick one-hour job (interior of an apartment). He quoted me for $90 for the job and when I told him that I was going to move forward with another contractor that offered to do the job for $55, he was quick to drop his price to $55 with materials. He seemed nice and said he's had over 2000 clients only which of 2 had bad things to say. I agreed. He verbally confirmed over the phone and then sent me a text to reconfirm. This morning, knowing he was scheduled to come at 11am; I texted him at 8:21 with parking and address information. No response. I texted again at 9:44am - no response. I called and left a voicemail at around 10:30am. No response. Instead, at 10:40am (20 minutes before appointment time) I get a text saying I should find another contractor because he's "leery" of being escorted up from the leasing office. It's an Irvine Company apartment which means it's highly secure and any guests need to be walked in by a resident with a key - I'm not sure what his concern was. I'm sure he found another job that was better worth his time and instead of being up front and asking to reschedule my appointment - he pulled this. ...read more

Persian Area Rugs, Best Ways To Care for Your Investment!
Has your Persian area rug been damaged over time by constant foot traffic, pet stains, urine, messy children, or spilled wine? Do the fringes look worn out and in need of a restoration? The best way to protect your carpet from wear and tear is by having it professionally washed. The general rule is to have your rug washed every 5 years. This is the best and only way to prevent larger repairs in the future. Over time, they get filled with dust and dirt in the foundation of the rug. This buildup of dust over time can, and will start to slice away at the fiber's, causing your area rug severe damage. Carpet fibers lose elasticity due to the natural wool and silk drying out over time. The good news is that washing a carpet can assist in treating all these problems.A fully washed wool carpet should be soft to the touch and completely deodorized. Cleaning will bring back the original colors, and many times present new colors that were previously unseen prior to the wash. An added bonus of washing, is removing any bugs or moths. These insects love dirty wool and will eat anywhere from a small amount, to a basketball size hole in your area rug. No cause for alarm, cleaning and introducing moth repellent will completely eliminate your carpet of moths. When you have your carpet cleaned, dust and dirt from deep in the rug is removed during a dry dusting. The rug is dusted and re-dusted until no more dry soil is visible. The carpet is then taken to a concrete wash floor and submerged in fresh water. Color stabilizers are added if needed and then it is washed in the same manner that Persian area rugs have been cleaned for thousands of years. Essentially a river of clean water is created and then gentle shampoos are applied, to remove all dirt and soil. This river like effect washes and cleans away all the dirt from deep down in the rug right into a drain. Only fresh clean water comes in contact with the carpet during the entire washing and cleaning process. Special attention is also given to carpets that have fringe. A cleaning agent is added solely to the fringe that is made special for cotton, wool, or silk. The area rug is then completely rinsed in fresh water again and all noticeable shampoo and dirt is removed. A squeegee is used to remove as much water as possible and your Persian area rug is rolled up and put into a centrifuge. This machine is basically a giant washing machine that works like the spin cycle in your home unit. The spinning action removes up to 95% of all water and any trace of dirt that may have missed during the wash. Another benefit of a centrifuge is that it opens up the fibers and brings back life to your Persian area rug. After the area rug has been removed from the centrifuge, it is taken and hung to dry in a special drying chamber. This room is set at a high temperature with a low humidity, the ideal climate for drying a natural fiber rug. The area rug is finally removed from the drying room the following morning and undergoes quality control prior to making pickup or delivery arrangements. For more information on the best techniques, tips, and ideas on cleaning and washing your Persian area rug, make sure to visit our website at: http://orange-county-rug-cleaners.com/Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/8155443 ...read more
