I've been dealing with this place since it was first opened. The format of the store has changed quite a bit, they sell whole systems, they do repair, and they also have quite a good Game room and they charge decent for the use of it. I used to buy Barebones systems from Newegg or Compusa, but the last four builds I've done, I bought the system from here. Rarely have I spent more than 400 dollars for system components, ands the parts Startech stocks are much better quality than other high-volume stores.\t\n\t\nNow this store has a turnaround with repair techs like any other store, and I'm sorry a couple of people had bad luck with their repair job. But they should never have brought their system to this place - Startech is not a place for novice computer users or techs, and it is not a repair facility, it's a place where I buy my parts. if you know what you are doing, then you will never have any problems.\t\n\t\nBut even so. I've had to use their repair facility on occasion, and I've never seen any evidence of the things that happened to a couple of other people. The techs usually know what's happening, and they get it done where other stores fail. But I usually do not use outside repair facilities, I believe any computer user has an obligation to learn how to deal with their own repair issues. Now I find Startech an above average repair facility that charges much lower than Best Buy's Geek Squad.\t\n\t\nBut as I said I do not use their repair facility. I've been buying parts from them for over 10 years, and I've NEVER EVER been given a bad part - Unlike my experiences with Frye's, where half the stock is returned items: Just look for a large square white sticker on the side of anything you buy from Frye's from a stick of Ram to an HDTV, 3/4 of their stock had something wrong with it, was returned, and they just put it back on the shelf, Startech does nto do that, if a component is bad, they give you a new one and take the bad one out of circulation.\t\n\t\nI';ve unfortunately also have had to return items when a system was not reparable even with a new part - I've brought back parts and been promptly refunded or credited.\t\n\t\nUsually, the sales person, knows as much about systems as I do if not more, and when I am investigating new systems, they have been very helpful in helping me make my decisions.\t\n\t\nThis pace ROCKS- Best computer store in San Diego area. In a good, easy to get to location in El Cajon, and the people who work there are professionals. These people who had problems, are the victims of what can be called "A Fluke" - because they usually do a good job reparing your system.
