DO NOT GO HERE. unfortunately this cannot be a positive review of Dr. Shikman's office. I believe he should have his license pulled. He has been treating my friend with the wrong protocols for over 4 years. I am particularly frustrated because we have done extensive fundraisers to pay for his unorthodox remedies to a very serious disease. I believe what he's done is inhumane because she has SUFFERED unnecessarily due to his inability to follow the proper protocols in treating her disease. I believe we are dealing with someone who is operating on ego rather than his commitment to do no harm. His protocols are experimental and very expensive. He has been very creative with his diagnoses in order to be able to perform his protocols and still get the insurance companies to pay for it. First off, I cannot speak for Dr. Shikhmanâs knowledge as I am not a doctor. However, I can speak to how I feel as a patient. He and his staff donât appear to care about you. They seem to only care about your money and how to get it from you. They donât explain what treatments or tests they want to perform and what their costs are. Even if you can get little tidbits of info from them it is incomplete and inaccurate. When you get the invoice you will fall out of your chair. I have never in my life dealt with a Doctor that treats his patients this ways. They have no concern about your position on the facts. They just want your money. My husband and I are patients of Dr. Cortes and we've had very good experience, nothing similar to what other members describe above. There is always a wait at Del Mar Clinic, regardless of what doctor your are seeing, although I think it is getting a bit better. Dr. Cortes has always been very attentive towards us, going as far as giving us his cell phone number if we need to reach him during the weekend. He's energetic and seems very knowledgeable. Once I had a bad strep throat and he actually called 2 days later to see how I was doing! We are pleased with his care and have gotten very positive results. ...read more
