Spa Covers Etc.
By BobEmery March 13, 2018
I purchased a Sundance Spa in 2002 and it is time for a new spa cover. I was informed by Sundance that Ideal Spa Covers made the original cover and that I can purchase a new cover from them. I found Discount Pool Supply and they are a dealer for Ideal. Chris @ Discount Pool Supply was able to answer all my questions. I decided to purchase the new Ultimate Waterfall Spa Cover because of the snow and rain that my cover is exposed to. My new Sundance cover looks great and made it through 1 tough season so far! ...read more

Anonimo Italian Watches
Florentine horological tradition? Watch- making for the Italian military? Starting to sound familiar? It might to a whole lot of people interested in another brand also rooted in Florence, Italy, but connoisseurs know that outside of these items, there are very few similarities between these two brands known for the ve...ry large dimensions of their watches. One may have kicked off a trend with its timepieces, practically achieving cult status, but the other is not so far behind - and doing things its own way. A different way, however intertwined the roots may be. The former is Panerai, which in 1993 released its first modern watch, becoming a hot tip for the trendy connoisseur. It wasn't long until 1997 when it was taken over by the Vendome group (now Richemont) and the brand's production was moved to Switzerland, leaving a group of creative Italian watchmakers, case makers, and designers on the Swiss-Italian border without occupation. The same year, designer and entrepreneur Federico Massacesi founded the other enterprise, using this very team of veteran horological specialists, to continue manufacturing watches in tasteful Florentine tradition. He named his brand Anonimo, Italian for anonymous, to emphasize the fact that these watches are about the individual wearing them - not about the watches as an end in themselves. Massacesi's distinct design and demands on quality for Anonimo are based on two elements: The unique case production and the patented Kodiak strap. The case, made of AISI 316L surgical stainless steel is manufactured in a much different way than most cases. It is "scooped out" on a lathe and turned from the inside, rather than stamped as conventional cases are, to prevent the case from experiencing too much stress. Massacesi's firm belief is that when metal is struck, the molecules are largely restructured, making the metal brittle. The Anonimo style of manufacture results in a case with a more organic feel to it, almost like salt water hitting rocks. The smooth, satinated case sides do not scratch as easily as conventional steel, and they have a truly individualistic appearance. Massacesi introduced another interesting aspect to cases in 2004: the Ox-Pro surface treatment. Ox-Pro is an oxidation process performed on the case's surface to turn it black. It is used by Anonimo in place of PVD coating, for example. In fourteen individual steps, the Ox-Pro process modifies the surface molecules of the stainless steel causing them to become darker, obtaining a deep, warm black tone. It is a process that has, until now, been used for military instruments and small weapons and was created by a company in - where else? - Florence. The Kodiak process for the straps is equally as interesting as that of the cases. These straps, originally chosen by Panerai, are created by a patented process that allows leather to be continuously immersed in fresh- or seawater for up to twenty-four hours. No wonder, then, that Panerai was interested. Anonimo SPA now holds the sole patent to the Kodiak process, one that basically makes leather water-resistant. This is an advantage not only in the water, but also in hot, tropical climates where conventional leather is almost uncomfortable when worn for too long- not to mention what it generally looks like after being subjected to water or moist air for extended periods. The Kodiak strap, in comparison, looks fresh as a daisy. Anonimo's first watch, the Millimetri, was released in 1998 to great critical acclaim from watch buyers and professional divers alike in Italy. A cooperation with one of the most important deep-sea diving industrial companies in the world, CN.S. Cooperativa Nazionale Subacquei, allows the Italian brand to have its watches tested firsthand by professionals under real conditions. Anonimo, with its annual production of about 4,000 watches, successfully entered the American and is now positioned at fifty of America's high-end retail shops, the brand is often proudly located next to its countryman, Panerai. But no worries, these watches can truly stand up to any scrutiny that dyed-in-the-wool Paneristi can dish out. Ball Watches - Accuracy under adverse conditions
Webster Clay Ball (October 6, 1847–1922) was a jeweler and watchmaker born in Fredericktown, Ohio. After a two-year apprenticeship to a jeweler, Ball settled in Cleveland, Ohio to join a jewelry store. When Standard Time was adopted in 1883, he was the first jeweler to use time signals from the United States Naval Obse...rvatory, bringing accurate time to Cleveland. In 1891 there was a collision between Lake Shore and Michigan Southern Railways at Kipton, Ohio which occurred because an engineer's watch had stopped. The railroad officials commissioned Webb C. Ball as their Chief Time Inspector, in order to establish precision standards and a reliable timepiece inspection system for Railroad chronometers. He established strict guidelines for the manufacturing of sturdy, reliable precision timepieces, including resistance to magnetism, reliability of time keeping in 5 positions, isochronism, power reserve and dial arrangement, accompanied with record keeping of the reliability of the watch on each regular inspection. His original jewelry business in Cleveland grew into the Ball Watch Company (currently headquartered in Neuchatel, Switzerland), which used other watch companies' movements, perfecting them and then reselling them. Ball Watch Company also ordered watches complete from other watch companies. Ball used movements from the top American manufacturers, Elgin, Hamilton, and Waltham, and switched to Swiss movements as early as the 1940's in their wristwatches. The Waltham Watch Company complied immediately with the requirements of Ball's guidelines, later followed by Elgin National Watch Company and most of the other American manufacturers, later on joined by some Swiss watch manufacturers, including Vacheron Constantin. Webb C. Ball became the vice president of the Hamilton Watch Company and focused his efforts on developing watches for the railroads. On February 10, 1907, the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers honored his efforts by appointing Ball as an honorary member. They were the first wrist watch allowed to be used on the Railroads, (using a Swiss manual wind movement) followed quickly by the first American mad wrist watch on "the roads", Elgin. The firm was family owned by direct descendants until the 1990s when the right to use the name was sold. The new firm continues the tradition, using Swiss-made (primarily ETA) movements and making watches for sportsmen and even for some small railroads. At the end of his career, Webb C. Ball was overseeing over 125,000 miles of rail tracks in the U.S.A., Mexico&Canada; , having greatly contributed to the security of all railroad systems. The Horological Institute of America celebrated his efforts on October 20, 1921. He died in 1922. Ball Watch continues to update its range in the 21st century and keeps pace with ever-advancing technology. Despite changes in appearance, the founding spirit of the brand – industrial function is never compromised. Today Ball watches are 100% Swiss made and they stand by their mission of Accuracy under adverse conditions. What makes About Time® unique?
What makes About Time速 unique? In 1952, Jack and Mickey Kopol founded Kopol&Kopol, a general merchandise company dedicated to wholesaling quality merchandise at the lowest possible prices. After many successful years in business, they left Chicago to retire in Encinitas, California, a northern suburb of San Diego. But long-time friends and satisfied clients continued to call with requests for products. Jack and Mickey came out of retirement and went back into business, this time specializing in watches. Brand new, brand name watches. And to reflect the nature of their new business, they changed Kopol & Kopol to About Time速. In 1995, well ahead of most of their competition, they launched www.aboutime-watches.com, soon replaced by www.abouttime.com. When Mickey and Jack retired (again!) in 2003, they sold their business to Holly and Marty Burns. Marty, an avid watch collector, had been a good customer of About Time速 since 1991. Over the years, the Burnses, their friends, and their family bought many watches from the Kopols. Nowhere else did they find such pleasant service and fine watch values. Like Jack and Mickey, Holly and Marty are not native Californians. They relocated from Rockland County, New York to Orange County, California in 2000. To provide better customer service as well as longer operational hours, they moved the business a little closer to home to larger quarters in Dana Point. In the fall of 2003, Marty's oldest son Steven Michael Burns left his engineering management position at an aerospace company in Connecticut and as one of the owners of About Time began integrating the latest technologies into the business and website. In response to rapid growth, they once again moved the business in 2006 to a larger location in Dana Point, California. Today, visitors at our store as well as calls and e-mails pour in from all over the world. Customers quickly become friends, thanks to the personal, knowledgeable service of the About Time速 staff. They ship nearly every watch brand at every price point across the country and around the globe. And no matter how many watches they ship, the only things they count are the letters from grateful customers. Feel free to call us with questions, concerns, comments or of course, compliments. And feel free to call Skip Torrance, Vice President Business Client Manager, Bank of America, 888-852-5000 ext. 8562 for a personal reference. ...read more
