Heidi Klum Officially Files for Divorce from Seal

Earlier this month, Heidi Klum formally submitted her divorce petition, requesting an end to her almost seven year marriage to Grammy-winning singer Seal. This news comes, predictably, on the heels of the couple’s separation, which was announced in January of 2012. Klum cites irreconcilable differences as the reason behind the spilt. She is seeking primary physical custody of the couple’s four children, with a visitation allowance for Seal. The British singer responded with his own filing, requesting joint physical custody of the children. Even with the disparity of custody requests, sources say no battle over custody is expected. The couple has remained relatively vague when publicly discussing the dissolution of their once-solid marriage. Both Heidi and Seal have given off a general feeling of resignation and acceptance when conversing about their relationship, and both have cited their children’s well-being as paramount throughout the transition. As Heidi Klum and Seal’s split has shown (so far, at least), separation and divorce do not need to involve bitter warfare.
