Canyon Heights Academy

They not only teach the children how to learn but they actually teach them how to THINK both critically and abstractly. The curriculum is advanced and comes from NCE; National Consultants for Education. Philosophy will also be added to the curriculum this year. Because it is a “Leadership” school they teach the children how to live virtuous lives and to serve others. The children also work on their public speaking skills by making oral presentations about 6 times a year. The school performances involve all of the children in the lower grades and the middle school and upper school kids produce their own film documentaries on computers. This is our 8th year at the school and we can not say enough good things about it. Our 3 children just love it. The teachers are well formed, and very caring. This is not your average school and well worth the financial sacrifice. Check it out for yourself; this is a very innovative school. www.canyonheightsacademy.com ...read more

I moved my child from another Catholic school to attend Canyon Heights and after 3 months I realized that I had made a very huge mistake. After talking with our parish priest we decided to go back to our parish school and leave Canyon Heights. The previous review is 100% correct. Everything I was planning on saying is in that review. The only other things I would add is that the school has yet again lost another great teacher and over 30 families just left. Large exit of families. When will the bleeding stop? ...read more

Before my family left the school I found out that almost all the 8th graders had to be tutored at Gallagher Learning Center in Saratoga because Canyon Heights couldn't deliver a solid education. The fact that the school is very expensive and then you have to go out to supplement the education with more cost just doesn't add up. This was just one reason we left the school. There are no up to date books in the library and no computer classes for the kids. Can you believe this is happening in the Silicon Valley? Go to the open house and there's the principal telling you how wonderful this place is, showing you fancy graphs, colorful data, and photos of his kids and other Regnum Christi member. Sounds very impressive but don't be fooled. This man runs the place with NO oversight. He has no experience in school administration or even managed other teachers before. Oh, and it costs twice as much as other catholic schools in the area and the kids all end up in the same high schools. ...read more
