I bought my Natura Harmony Mattress from Naturally Organic Sleep about 1 month ago & although I looked forward to the perks that come with a new, green mattress, I was hesitant to believe that a mattress could actuallty alleviate aches and pains-BUT THIS ONE DID! I used to get annoying "pressure point pain" with my old mattress and even while traveling- primarily on my hip, sometimes my lower back & leg would feel numb the next day! My Doctor had no suggestions so thanks to Naturally Organic Sleep-I found my own cure. I highly recommend this store! ...read more

Haven't purchased my bed yet but I must say that this store gave me a lot of useful information about the required by Law, Fire Retardant Chemicals used by all major mattress manufacturers, unless you obtain a RX from your Doctor - a process which Naturally Organic Sleep streamlines for you at no cost. Also, they use natural fire retardants like wool.... I think I'll probably purchase my mattress at this store. ...read more

Understanding Latex Mattresses-Why Latex?

Not all latex mattresses are equal If you want to bid farewell to inner spring mattresses forever, you'll discover fairly quickly that all latex foam mattresses are not created equal. The questions below will help you narrow your search and understand why a foam mattress from Naturally Organic Sleep can help you feel better – tonight.     •   Why is latex good for my body?     •   What's the difference between all-natural and synthetic latex?     •   What's the difference between standard and Talalay latex?     •   Can I have a synthetic and natural latex combo mattress? Why is latex good for my body? SupportWhether you prefer a firm or plush sleep surface, Naturally Organic Sleep offers a wide range oflatex mattressesthat address many sleep and health concerns. Understanding the different types of latex will help you find the right one for you.Unlike a spring mattress that acts like a shock absorber and pushes back, latex supports all the unique contours of your body. Instead of forcing your spine into a straight line, the buoyancy of latex allows your muscles, joints and spine to relax naturally. Less tossing and turningBecause your body is relaxed and NOT receiving roll-over signals from pain or discomfort, a deeper, morerestful sleepis easier to achieve. And when partnered with the benefits of wool (as all our mattresses are) nighttime movement is reduced by as much as 75%. What's more, latex doesn't bounce like a spring mattress, so when your partner rolls over, your sleep isn't disturbed. Healthier breathing environment Latex has a unique ventilating system that makes it a breathable, allergen-free, moisture-reduced sleeping environment. The unique open-cell structure of natural latex allows moist air to pass through naturally and dissipate quickly. In fact, it's 300% more resistant todust mites than any other foam, making it the ideal choice for allergy sufferers. What's the difference between natural and synthetic latex? Most latex manufacturers in the Far East and Africa (Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Ivory Coast etc.) use 100% natural latex from rubber trees. Synthetic latex is a petrochemical blend of styrene and butadiene and has a similar molecular structure – but lacks the proteins that contribute to allergies.Natural latex is highly elastic, which makes it both buoyant and supportive for pressure points. Synthetic latex has the same supportive and long-lasting lifespan of natural latex but it's much less expensive. Worried about alatex allergy? The truth is, latex is a touch-allergy and you can't suddenly get it from being near latex. If you're allergic to latex, it's from birth, (though it may not become apparent until exposure). A latex mattress won't affect an allergy because our mattresses are wrapped in wool and then sealed in a protective outer layer of cotton or poly/cotton blend ticking. What's the difference between Standard and Talalay latex? Standard (sometimes referred to as Dunlop) and Talalay latex are the different ways of processing natural latex. While some companies throw the terms around with hints about quality or longevity, they mostly refer to firmness.During the Talalay process, air is vacuumed from the foam as its flash frozen. Imagining the open cell structure of a sea sponge and how easily air moves through it is the best way to describe Talalay latex. During the Dunlop process, air is not removed and the freezing stage is skipped – the cell structure is not open. These millions of balloons compress when you lie on the mattress, which makes a Dunlop latex mattress denser and firmer. Both Talalay and Standard latex are often used in the same mattress to achieve levels of firmness neither can achieve alone. ...read more

A good night’s sleep – It’s not just in your head!

Think a good night's sleep is something you can take or leave? Think again.    Lost memory – Count on at least 15% reduction in mental acuity after pulling an all-nighter. Sleep helps you filter and organize information and without it, you'll lose important data.  Gain Weight  - When you're tired you crave junky, high-carb foods because you don't have enough of the hormone leptin to tell you when to stop eating.  More sick days – Both the University of Chicago and Harvard have studied how many sick days insomniacs rack up – as well as the increased risk for heart disease, cancer and type-2 diabetes. It's not pretty. If stress is your bed partner, put yourself on snooze control with these tips: Redefine a good night's sleep Eight hours is the goal, but who said you had to have it all at once? If you're awake at 4 am worrying, get up and do something that makes you feel good. Grab a nap mid-afternoon or before dinner to get your 8 hours in. Go to bed to sleep Supply sleep signals by dimming the lights, reading – anything but checking your email. Clearing your head and nudging your internal clock it's lights out will make easier to fall asleep. Breathe deeply Evidence shows that slow, deep breathes reduce anxiety and relax the body. Close your mouth, inhale through your nose and just breathe…. Listen to your mom Don't drink coffee or alcohol or smoke right before bed – they're known sleep-disturbers. And avoid large meals and spicy food – your digestive system needs to wind down as well. ...read more
