This was one of those restaurants for those not willing to travel far to get Japanese. The portions were small for the price. Not as tasty as other restaurants nearby. Nothing compares to Angelfish this side of the bay. Taka, the owner and head sushi chef, has created a restaurant rich with all the things that make a restaurant memorable and worth repeated return visits: fresh, delicious, expertly prepared sushi and authentic Japanese dishes, a warm and welcoming staff, ambience that is both elegant and casual.\t\n\t\nThe bottom line is the food is amazing, the service is fantastic, and there isn't a single Japanese restaurant in Alameda that even comes close. ...read more

I don't understand why people would wait over an hour to eat at another sushi place (that shall remain nameless but is located in South Shore). I would spend my time waiting to eat at Angel Fish instead! I believe Angel Fish first opened in the late 90's - almost 10 years ago and their sushi has been delicious consistently. I've heard friends who have taken friends/colleagues who are from Japan praise the sushi/sashimi at Angel Fish...you really can't get better compliments that that. Their non-sushi menu items isn't as extensive as some other Japanese restaurants. But, if you looking for a satisfying sushi meal, this would be my first choice. ...read more
