The Jealous Gardener

I just went to the "new" Jealous Gardener which has new owners and has relocated to Multnomah Village. From the sounds of the previous reviews, it's a great thing to have new owners and I can tell you first hand that my experience with the new owners (Melissa) was great! I walked in and wandered around not quite sure about what could help fill a big kitchen wall. Melissa was so helpful and sold me a beautiful wreath which unfortunately turned out to be too small, but they were happy to exchanged it the next day for a larger one with no problem. \t\n\t\nI was so enthralled by the great selection of unique items--this place is a must visit! Good selection, reasonable prices, charming owners. \t\n\t\nI will definitely keep this as one of my go to places!

I live in the Sellwood area, and tend to wander around quite often to the small shops to see where I want to drop my hard earned money. I always take a chance to shop local, so when I found this cute little garden/interiors shop, I was sure I'd found a gem. I was entranced by the great displays and encouraged by the fabulous product lines they carried, but I have never once been acknowledged in this store...not even a "Hello, isn't the weather beautiful?". I just can't invest in patronizing a business that doesn't even notice me.

If only zero stars were an option.\t\n\t\nI went to the Jealous Gardener to exchange a sale wreath I'd purchased less than 24-hours before. The owner Susan refused to exchange it, even for other final sale items. I explained that it looked bad in our house and that I'd had it for less than a day. \t\n\t\nI begged her to please reconsider, and that I'm a new customer and didn't know her policies. She told me that she didn't expect "my kind" to keep her business afloat anyway. When I asked her to explain, she mumbled that I was "low class" as she walked away from me.\t\n\t\nSusan then said that she works 7 days a week and that she didn't want me bringing my sick child into her store. (He was in his stroller the entire time.) Then she said, "Get you and your germy kid out of my store." \t\n\t\nWhen I stood there, sort of shocked, she then said she'd call the police if I didn't leave. \t\n\t\nThe owner Susan should be utterly ashamed to treat people so poorly.
