Pier 88 Yacht Club

My husband and I rented a pontoon recently for the very first time from Pier 88 on Lake Wylie. We were very ploeased with the folks at Pier 88. They were super nice and the boat we rented was in great shape In fact we actually went to Pier 88 and looked over all of their rental boats. Very well kept and maintained. We are planning to rent the 34ft. houseboat that they just brought into their fleet this year. I definitely recommend Pier 88 not only for their rentals but service, food, and all of the stuff in their store..

We wish we could rate this business with a negative star. Having happily rented from Pier 88 two years ago, we were excited about renting a pontoon the day before Memorial Day. With two excited children in tow, a cooler of snacks and plans for a family adventure, we arrived to find two ancient pontoons both with mechanical failures due to lack of maintenance. The pontoon we had reserved was a 24 ft with a 90 hp outboard. Waiting for us was a 15 yr old, 21 ft pontoon with a 50 hp outboard covered in slime and spiderwebs with 2 rusted bolts sticking up through the carpet on the front deck. With that being said, my husband had called 4 times prior to our arrival the week before to ask questions and confirm the details of our reservation and to stress the 90 hp - we really wanted to pull our children on a tube! Aside from the safety hazards of the boat that they tried to put my family in, this establishment also has poor management, customer service and mainteneance practices!
