GREAT FAMILY PEDIATRIC DENTIST!!

We moved to B'ham about two years ago and right after my husband and I established a dentist for us, our daughter had a minor dental emergency. We asked for a referral to a pediatric dentist and were given Dr. Hurst's name. I contacted their office and was immediately worked into their schedule. Fortunately, her problem turned out to be very easily treated. We have been to his office on numerous occasions since then for cleanings and fillings. The charges are very fair and they work hard to come to an agreement with your dental insurance to make sure your child's care is covered.\t\nDr Hurst is very personable and professional with the kids. I have a 7 yr old son and a 10 yr old daughter. He has always treated me and my children with utmost respect and treats their concerns as legitimate and takes the time to answer them. The entire staff is very loving and caring with the kids and always tries to make them as comfortable as possible. My son was born with some dental deficiencies and has had a lot of work done on his teeth. While he cetainly doesn't enjoy getting a filling, he does like the kindness that surrounds him. \t\nWe have had other pediatric dentists over the years, and I would say Dr Hurst is our favorite by far. I highly recommend Dr Hurst and all of his staff.

WARNING TO ALL PARENTS!

We were so excited to find Dr. Joby and his friendly office! Everyone seemed so nice and the office was small but cute. I scheduled a consultation with Dr. Joby specifically to request that he never use Mercury/Amalgam fillings and ALWAYS used nitrous for my child. Two weeks later, I took my child in for two fillings. Dr. Joby and his asst. were not patient AT ALL with my 6 year old. The gave numbing gel then immediately did the shot, causing my son pain & anxiety. When he cried, he was told he needed to stop. How I wish I had taken my little boy out of the chair right then and there! There was no nurturing or compassion & they worked without even giving him a few words of encouragement, nor did they give nitrous despite my requests. My son got ouf of Dr. Joby's chair & told us all it was the worst day of his lfe. :( He is normally a very mellow child, but he cried all the way home. \t\n\t\nHe also used MERCURY AGAINST MY WISHES! When he toffered to "drill it out", I asked him if he followed the IAOMT protocol for safe mercury removal; he admitted that he was not familiar with it. (International Academy of Oral Medicine & Toxicology or visit IAOMT dot org ). Dr. Joby's office treated me HORRIBLY when asked to remove the insurance charges, telling me mercury is safe and besides the fillings were "tiny anyway" and that Dr. Joby told them I'd said no to the nitrous "when he asked me". :( I am so disappointed that anyone in a position of caring for children would not only lie, but refuse to take any responsibility in something that was clearly a professional error. \t\n\t\nThe worst part? My little boy who onced loved the dentist , is now anxiety-ridden thanks to Dr. Joby and his hostile staff. The worst choice I have ever made as a mother was to bring my chid there. I pray that our experience might at least help someone else's child avoid being vicitimized in Dr. Joby's chair.
