Bad car check

I took a truck I wanted to buy to these guys for a buyer's check. They did it, and said I only needed to get a few things done, it was a good buy for the price, etc. So, I bought the truck.\t\n\t\nCome to find out, only a year later, the transmission is nearly shot. The rotors are almost at their end, the pads are gone. The electrical system is funky.\tI need a new muffler and tailpipe. And probably other things will arise, as I'm having a new buyer's check done to see if I can afford to keep this piece of junk.\n\t\nI loved Groovy, thought I could trust them (that's why I went there), but now I just can't.

GREAT, honest service on a budget!

I had an outstanding experience with Groovy. Brought in a Mercedes and Steve, the Manager provided me with a quick quote, ordered the necessary parts off the internet cheap, and had it done a few days labor. The work was outstanding, the work honest and true to their word, all he charged me for was the labor...which is a standard, very fair price. I'll be back to Groovy and encourage everyone I know to go there. They make their money off of volume, not overcharging, and I wouldn't take my SUV anywhere else. Thanks Groovy!

Kings of the unnecessary upsell

I've taken my truck exclusively to Groovy Lube and Groovy Automotive for 5 years. I chose them because they are a locally owned, independent business and I felt I could trust them for that reason. \t\n\t\nAfter a couple years of oil changes with them, I noticed that at every oil change, they suggested something extra that ""needed"" to be done. I got suspicious when it was a different ""need"" at every oil change, and usually the ""need"" from last time was never brought up again. I had a coupon for cheap oil changes from them, so kept returning but also started keeping a spreadsheet of what work they had done, and when.\t\n\t\nI let them change my fuel filter in January (at their suggestion, of course). A couple weeks ago, I had the truck in for something else, and Art said ""the only other thing I see is that your fuel filter is in terrible shape, all rusted out."" I didn't have my spreadsheet in front of me, and didn't remember having it changed in January, so authorized the repair. I realized my mistake when I got home to the spreadsheet, so called off the repair. Art said, ""oh, you had the fuel filter changed at Groovy Lube (not Groovy Automotive), that's why I didn't see it in the records."" This was proof that NO ONE ACTUALLY LOOKED AT MY FUEL FILTER BEFORE TELLING ME IT WAS RUSTED OUT! When I came in to pick up my truck, he had a really lame excuse as to why he suggested replacing a brand new part.\t\n\t\nIt gets better, though. The next week, I took up Firestone on their offer to do a free brake check. I walked out with a $1200 list of things that supposedly needed to be repaired, including repacking the front wheel bearings, which Groovy had done recently. Interesting. Not knowing who to believe, I talked Groovy into doing a free brake check also. They had a whole different list of things that needed to be repaired that didn't include the bearings, fortunately for them. (Also beware of Firestone on Airport!) But, here's the kicker--Art tells me the only other thing he sees is that my fuel filter is in really bad shape! I guess the fuel filter is their standard upsell that they'll try to get every customer on.\t\n\t\nIn a final ironic note, Groovy had some sweet girl call to ask about my experience with the repairs I'd had done. I gave her an earful. She had the manager call me, and I missed the call, but called him back and left a call-back number. He never called back.\t\n\t\n
