I have found in my years of practicing Psychotherapy, that often people have difficulty as the result of patterns that they developed early in life to survive and adapt.  These survival patterns in the present often do not work and cause ongoing difficulty for the individual in personal and work relationships.
Individual Psychotherapy can offer an opportunity for the individual to develop insight into their maladaptive, limiting behavior and the ability to change.  Often, insight while helpful is not enough and these patterns are so ingrained that Psychotherapy must be open-ended so that the individual can observe the patterns repeat and realize the negative consequences of their patterns so that they become unacceptible to their conscious self. This unacceptibility to themself of this pattern often facilitates change.Psychotherapy offers the opportunity for better more fulfilling relationships and improved self-esteem.
