I know that it may seem early to start talking about the Holidays, but the reality is that they will be upon us all too soon. With just a little bit of planning you will be able to get your home ready for the Holidays and the New Year. The gift-giving season usually means that lots of new items will be entering your homes. By purging and organizing beforehand you will be able to avoid feeling overwhelmed dealing with this newly created clutter come January.

Start by going through your children's closets and toy chests. Involve the children in this process explaining that you are making room for all the exciting, new toys. Get them in the gift giving spirit by donating some of their toys, usually the thought of helping a child in need will get them excited and more willing to part with their belongings. Now it is time to move onto your closet, weeding out anything that you haven't worn in a year, has worn out, or doesn't fit anymore.

Don't forget to purge through your decorations as you get the house ready for the Holidays. Anything that you don't use to decorate this year needs to be donated, or thrown away. Don't make the mistake of storing it back in the basement year after year, taking up precious storage space.
