Best practices for conducting an arc flash risk assessment

TheArc flash risk assessmentis carried out to prevent the risks that are associated with the occurrence of an Arc flash OSHA has published some guidelines for the security and safety of employees at the work place especially when working at the hazardous electrical equipment where there is a high probability of electric or Arc flashes. There are many Practices in Arc flash risk assessment each consultant follows their own way of analysing and assessing the risks of arc flashes. There are some of the major areas where the constant updating is necessary to evict the hazardous effects of arc flashes. The Arc flashshort circuit calculationis one of fundamental that prerequisites the categories proposed by the NFPA 70E to analyse the arc flash intensity and the category. The Arc flash risk categories as per NFPA are classified into 5 types they are: Ø HRC 0 - A minimum arc rating of PPE at Zero. Only a Single layer of cotton clothing is required to meet up the standards Ø HRC 1 – A same layer of protection is required with an arc rating of 4 calories per square centimetre Ø HRC 2 – Additional flame resistant clothing or equipment is required as the arc rating would be around 12 calories Ø HRC 3 – A 25 calorie of an arc rating requires safety goggles, leather shoes, insulated gloves, 4 layers of above mentioned clothing standard is required to meet up with OSHA compliance Ø HRC 4 – A 40 calorie of arc rating of PPE and an Arc flash suit including 4 layers of clothing. These are the Arc flash hazard categories that would be analysed to decide the respective PPE at the equipment to meet up the risk and rescue the lives of employees endangered to it. TheArc flash warning labelsare one of the least concentrated assessments which could highly prevent as they signal the effect of hazard. It must contain the warning symbol specifying the PPE as per the analysis and category. If this is concentrated the personnel would be aware of the situation prior with related equipment to overcome the calamity.  The final concentration should be on calculating the boundary associated with arc flash risk the NFPA has formulated and decided 3 categories of boundaries i.e, Limited         (shock           hazard           exist), Restricted(increased risk) and Prohibited the inner boundary the point of contact where the intensity is maximum. These are the minute areas of analysis that are to be focused to prevent major risk due to Arc flashes and to save lives.  ...read more

Hello there. This is Susan Whitney. My roomate Virgil Turner spoke to somebody from ur clinic. Then a man called him back and I was thinking it was you since u are the head Dr there. We don't want any problems, we have had enough of them with our 2 cats and flees lately. now I gave our 2 cats a tablet each in their wet food and made sure they comsumed the whole pill. The Comfortis is what was recommended and what we bought from you. 6 tablets for I believe it was $79. And Virgil told me that u kept telling him that he wasn't using the pills right. We did use them right. I'm not quite sure what u meant by not using them correctly. The flee sprat did not work. These products should be guaranteed. I don't know why there's such a fuss over this. Looks like u have a good reputation and I don't know why you would doubt us that the spray that we spent $18 on and the $79 that we spent on the 6 pills. Since the spray did not kill their flees we got a fogger and that seemed to help with the flee problem but our poor cats still had flees and yes after I gave them their pill of comfortis on July 3. Advantage 2 is designed to kill the flees, eggs, larve and kills it all and we found out about that on the internet. And ur Comfortis the flees have to actually bite our 2 sweet cats in order to die off and the Comfortis doesn't take care of killing eggs and larve. We are telling you what has happened yet u are doubting us ? We have been bit and itching and our poor kitties still are miserable. Your products should be guaranteed. I would like to hear from you reguarding this situation asap. We will return the 4 Comfortis pills and the flee sprat that didn't take care of the problem. And yes we used it correctly. To make sure our 2 cars had one pill each and to spray out carpet, drapes and bedding. The products didn't work and I don't know how u could say that we didn't know how to use the products is upserd. We would like to return these useless products to us the 4 pills left and the flee spray and get a total refund since these products didn't work for us. Susan Whitney ...read more

Came out to give me a quote, spent about 30 minutes with me, followed up with a few questions here over the next week - then nothing. A week later, another contractor informed me that FH Construction decided to not submit a bid - without even bothering to give me the courtesy call to inform me. Called them again, no answer, left voicemail, and to no surprise, no return phone call. ...read more
