Every parent wants the best for their child. Kids today face many challenges. We know you need help, even if you're a great parent. How can you instill in your child the motivation, discipline and proper attitude necessary for success? Kids today need some positive guidance to help teach them about goal setting, motivation, and self-esteem through honest effort and accomplishment. It's not easy to find this type of education. It's a shame because kids are capable and can learn basic traits at a young age that can help have a massive impact on them to grow up to be well-adjusted adults, regardless of negative role models in the pop media culture and certain sports, learning these skills can have an impact on what a child accomplishes in later life. As I write this for you I am looking at a very special picture that was given to me and hangs in our academy. It was given to me as a gift several years ago by a young named Roy Stevens. Roy was a good kid but a little shy and withdrawn. He lacked confidence in himself and focus. His parents were trying their best to help him with his grades but nothing seems to work until they enrolled him in our Martial Arts Program! A first it was slow going with Roy. His progress was a little slow because his concentration was lacking, his coordination was poor and we all wondered if he would keep training. Gradually Roy gained confidence in himself. He started having fun in class. You could see Roy's attitude change. Roy started having confidence in himself and became eager to do his best not only in the Martial Arts Academy, but also at home and at school. The Martial Art discipline and philosophy was starting to take hold! Roy eventually went on to make his black belt! The picture I have in my office is of Roy and his mom and dad (mom with tears) holding up a copy of his report card with four "A's" on it! My message to you is very clear.
