As a general rule of thumb, the US Post Office is less expensive than FedEx or UPS. Advantages and disadvantages of each method are as follows:US Post Office
- Least expensive
- Tracking of shipment ends once the package has reached the destination country
- Greater size and weight limitations than the carriers
- Delivery time frame is typically 1-2 weeks
- In most countries the recipient will be required to pick up the package at a general mail facility
- In many countries packages get "lost" in customs
FedEx&UPS;
- Most expensive
- Tracking provided all the way to the recipient
- Delivery is typically within one week
- Package is hand delivered to recipient
- Carrier walks the package through customs
The next time you ship internationally let Mail Center USA assist you in choosing the best carrier for your package. We will work with you to choose the best carrier based on package contents, cost, destination, and speed of delivery.
Comments for International Shipping
I asked Mail Center USa, san antonio texas to ship 2 polo ralf lauren ($35 each) to Algeria on 8/17/09. It was shipped Priority mail. The agent used a big envelope, made me fill out a green card (?) charged me $48.00. She did not ask me to fill out form 2976-A (custom) . The US post office is asking me for the number on the custom form to try to locate the package. I was not given any copies.... The young person in Algeria did not receive the package, and I am very anxious. This is a lot of money for me... I need proof that a custom form was filed and I need that number.. it 's the only way I can get a refund.
