More Idahoans will qualify for the grocery credit for the tax year 2008, including those taxpayers who don't normally file an income tax return.   This credit is used to offset the sales tax charged on groceries for Idaho residents.   The amount of credit varies depending upon the taxable income and age of the tax payer.   Even part-year residents can obtain a prorated credit for the part of the year in which they lived in Idaho.  To get the credit if do not have to file an income tax return, prepare Form 24, Idaho Grocery Credit Refund Form.  Those who do need to file an Idaho Income Tax Return will have any amount which is due them credited to them via the return.
