Lucy Billings sang at the Tucson Folk Festival in May 2013. We had the honor of recording her set for her. Each of her songs comes from an inspiration or a situation she was in. One of her song's entitled, "God's House" tells a story as well. Below is the story that became her song, "God's House".
God's House video
I was visiting my sister in Virginia and we went to a Halloween party at the home of her friends. They lived in a little church that they had bought and turned into their home. They described how they were out driving and passed the little church and noticed a "For Sale" sign in the window. They told me a bunch of funny stories about people dropping by and wanting to see the church, and how they turned the house back into a church for their son's wedding. As I was listening to the stories, I knew I had to write a song about it. When I got back to California, the song basically tumbled out. The couple have now become my friends too and we get together when I visit my sister. It was wonderful to be able to sing the song for them last summer. The husband shed a few tears and said "You got me!"
