Do you know where your clean-out is and do you have one?

Most home owners are not aware if they even have a clean-out, or don’t know where it’s located. Clean outs are often located in the back, side or front of your home. It’s important to know where your clean-out is located in case of a Mainline sewer clog.

A 4″ Sewer Clean- Out allows for rooter service. If your drains get clogged, like your Mainline, a clean-out provides access to the sewer line, allowing to clear out blockages.

The clean-out looks like the end of a pipe and is capped. Your clean out connects from your home’s plumbing to the municipal plumbing. It usually sticks out from the ground. If you can’t find it, sometimes for whatever reason, it’s buried under dirt or under concrete. You can also call a plumber to assist you in finding it.

When a clog occurs the cap of the clean-out is opened to allow the back-up clog to overflow outside of your home instead of inside. The clean-out is also for the Rooter service. The Plumbing snake is placed through the clean-out to clear blockages, and clear the clog through the sewer line, avoiding the need to have the stoppage cleared through your toilet. Most times when a home owner does not have a clean-out, the toilet is removed and the drain is snaked through the opening, not only does this cost the homeowner more money to have this done, it’s also messy.

With a clean-out you avoid the trouble, the mess and headaches.
It’s worth having a clean-out installed.
