He promised pictures of the rock he would use, and we never received pictures of the rock. He promised it would be like what is used on playgrounds in our area. We saw it When it arrived, and It was not rock, it was sand. It is NOT what is used on the playgrounds in our area. We were given NO choice on the color of the sand, either. It does come in other colors. Considering everything had not been to schedule up until the sand was delivered (ex: We will get the plants planted this day turned into three days later, oh the patio should be done by this date etc), we knew if we sent the sand back that it would take forever to finish the project. The entire project WAS completed in 5 days, but we had expected it to take 2-3, because that's what they told us. He also told us that to return the sand and get regular rock (like we wanted) would be much more expensive, THEN when we were looking at the sand spread in the backyard he told us that "This is what they put under regular rock!" How does that make sense? He also said we would need 10 tons of regular rock to cover our entire backyard. I know for a fact that my neighbors yard, which is larger, only needed 3 tons. He told me when contracted that he would do the entire yard, then claimed he wasn't contracted to do the sides of the backyard. His guy did end up covering the side with the back gate with the sand, but had to do so by making the sand very thin in places. The owner had said he would pick up the plants, and if he went over a certain price, he would let me know. He let me know at the last possible moment that he wanted me to pick out the plants, which is what I had initially wanted to do. Instead, I had given him a specific list. So I paid directly to the nursery for those plants, yet the owner still tried to charge me for them. I had to "correct" him on the amount, and he agreed that I was correct. The owner yelled at me over the phone regarding the sides of my backyard. He apologized via text. Someone he contracted left gouges in my driveway which he did not want to fix , though he did try when he realized how upset I was. The gouges are still there. I am still upset about them. He tried to make the patio half the paid for size, initially when painting out the form to be laid. Then tried to tell me the shape we had agreed upon, and that I had paid for, would be very difficult to accomplish, and that I should just have a box shape, instead. We went with the initial shape. The patio looks alright, they used very, very, very fine sand to fill in between the bricks, and didn't spray it off. We had to do that. They used grey cement on the rounded areas of the patio, so it is a stark contrast between the bricks, and the cement which is keeping them in place. There are a few gaps in the brick that could have been filled with smaller pieces of brick, or should have been filled with concrete, but were not. We will have to do that ourselves, later, and hope that until then it doesn't become an issue. The backyard looks alright, but not as expected. We call it the beach, now, due to the unwanted sand. Frankly, I hate the sand. The color is OK. ...read more

All About Tucson

Today, Tucson is a well-known relocation destination, and it is an interesting place to live in because of the contrast between the Old West and life in the 21st century that people find here. Perhaps this is the reason that the city's population increased by 25% from 1990 to 2000 and has continued to grow steadily ever since. Tucson—past and present The name Tucson often conjures up thoughts of desert, cowboys, rodeos, cactus, and rugged terrain, and all that is part of its past. Now, it is an up-to-date, evolving city with a definite plan for the future. Local government and the business community have collaborated to improve the quality of life here, and the results are impressing locals and visitors alike. Tourism Because the city is rich in natural beauty, history, and culture—and favored with a mild winter climate—tourism plays a significant role in the local economy. Visitors come from far and wide to view the "petroglyphs," rock art left by the Native Americans who first settled the area, and the old Spanish missions that have been there for centuries. They also enjoy seeing the Pima Air Museum, the Titan Museum, and a genuine airplane "graveyard." Attractions for young and old alike Both tourists and residents can be found taking in the sun at Seven Falls Trails or hiking in Sabina Canyon Those who are fortunate enough to visit the world-class event featuring gem and mineral dealers that takes place here every February can see a vast array of opals, huge crystals, amazing fossils, and meteorites. When spring arrives, Tucson's major league baseball spring training camp comes to life as well, and fans of the sport have an opportunity to see some of their favorite players in person. The University of Arizona This institution is essential to the community's economy and culture, and the intellectual resources it provides include several museums, four libraries, an observatory, a performing arts center, and its science laboratories. Local high school graduates, who can attend as commuters, also have an opportunity to interact with the local business community and lay the foundation for their careers. Tucson's special appeal While the city's plan for the futures includes revitalization of its downtown area, peripheral development and construction are taking as well. The result is a harmonious blend of commercial and retail development, private homes, bike trails, and abundant green space—creating a pleasant, free-flowing effect. In Tucson's ideal climate, golfing, camping, biking, birding, rock climbing and caving are all available nearby, and Bicycle Magazine has revealed that it is one of the best places for both amateur and professional cyclists to train. As a result, this is another outdoor activity that predominates in the community. The city's schools, which are highly rated, offer every student an opportunity for an excellent education, and several private schools are available for all grade levels. In addition, many super-achievers attend Tucson's numerous magnet schools. While the city attracts young families, it is an affordable place for retirees as well because the cost of living here is relatively modest compared to Los Angeles, San Francisco, or San Diego. For example, a typical owner-occupied home here is valued at $195,000, and the median income per household is about $36,000 annually. ...read more
