I don’t know a whole lot about you, in a personal sense. On a professional level though, you are probably a business owner or manager, of a retail store, gas station or restaurant, who is sick of spending as much as you do on thermal paper. You bought your Epson or VeriFone printer because the local vendor told you it was cheaper to use thermal and customers prefer it, which they do, and it is cheaper. But, you hate having to print a long strip of paper for all the copies you need (store, customer, itemized, etc.). So you go out in search of a two ply thermal paper, and that is what brings you to this blog post. I’m sorry to say this, but 2 ply thermal paper does not exist, yet. There are 2 ply papers out there, but they are not thermal, they are either bond or impact papers. Bond paper requires a ribbon with ink to print (seenhere) and impact requires a strike or impact to print. Neither paper uses heat. Bond paper is cheaper than thermal but not after you add in the ink ribbon, and impact paper is extremely expensive and the printer is even more money. Why am I writing this? It isn’t to dash your dreams of 2 ply thermal paper, trust me, I wish it existed. No, I am writing this because I feel your pain in another area of business. I can’t help you, and it is frustrating. There is no 2 ply thermal, and as it looks right now, there isn’t going to be 2 ply in the near future. As an owner or manager yourself, you understand my frustration every time a customer enters your store looking for something you can’t possibly help them with. So how do you help the helpless? Well in short you can’t, if helping them means giving them what they want. You can, on the other hand, offer your assistance in educating them or referring them. Odds are, no matter what you do, they will not buy from you on this occasion, just like you are probably not going to purchase from this site today, which is ok. The customer does not need to buy to be a great customer. Helping people out builds your brand, and building your brand makes long lasting customers who refer and defend you. The customer who comes looking for the impossible is not an idiot, just like you aren’t an idiot. They are just uninformed and need help from an expert, like you. This is a perfect opportunity to market your business, not to sell, but to brand build. This may feel like you’re losing a sale, but you were most likely never going to sell anything, but the customer now knows that when they need something you have, they will go to you usually without question.
