We have used various pet sitters for over 25 years in three different states and Kelly Miller with Pup 'n' Pony Love is one of the absolute best! She is great with the animals (we have a dog and two cats). She is compassionate and caring and attends to the tiniest details. In addition, she is very professional and goes the extra step to ensure that we know that our furbabies are being well cared for while we are gone. June 6, 2011 We all ponder many things before bringing a new puppy or kitty into our lives and homes. We know there will be many trials and tribulations from accidents on the floor to chewing, barking to nipping, care while were away, expensive vet visits, grooming and TONS of other things.BUT, we also need to consider though the trials and tribulation of the ageing pet. Geriatric care is tough! Just when we have gotten used to our furry friend being the perfect pet, things start to fail. We may find ourselves cleaning accidents from the floor AGAIN, having to change to expensive foods, more often and more expensive veterinary care, offer mobility help (especially in your large breeds) and not being able to leave them alone very long anymore without special care.As a pet sitter and an owner of a very geriatric German Shep, I can tell you that these trials are much worse than anything that I dealt with when she was a pup. It's really tough to watch her grow old and not enjoy all the things she used to. It's difficult to see her have accidents that she doesn't even realize she's done. Watch her want to get up on her own, but her paws&legs not cooperating. Call her name and not be heard. Look into her eyes and realize the confusion in her brain. Watch her labored breath and panting set in with just a few steps taken....Just as we take the responsibility of puppy & kitten ownership, we must remember to take the responsibility of geriatric care in our old friends as well. With so many different companies and individuals out there to consider, how should you choose your pet sitter? First and foremost, never let "price" be your guide! Should you really trust one that undercuts all other sitters in your area? More than likely, they are "cheaper" because they are new to the industry and most importantly, are not fully insured, bonded and pet emergency trained. Let's face it,NOTanybody can be a pet sitter!
