Mail & More was like an office away from office for me for many many years. I could drop in to ship packages, make copies, send a fax, all with fabulous friendly service. The owner Dave was a heck of a guy and Cheryl was always working the counter. The amount of work and shirt purchase effects your overall price for your order. Pricing Depends on three basic costs involved with printing of a shirt. Shirt cost, with the companies discretion on retail mark up. Screen Cost, (most complex part see below for information) Number of colors equals number of screens needed. if you have an image with one color one screen is needed two color image, two screens. Labor cost depends on how many locations and amount of times a screen printer needs to print your image or how many shirts you order. For example order of 24 shirts, with one color on the front and back Requires Shirt cost of 24 shirts x $4.50 a shirt....................................$108.00 Screen cost two images two screens at $25x2 images.............$50.00 Labor cost (24shirts x 2 images) =48 prints x $1.50 a print....$72.00 TOTAL............................................................................... $230,00 For a better price fees like screen cost can be waived. and the labor cost can be different between companies. Screen Printing Burning process. this cost is determined by the amount of space for your design plus the number of screen needed to print Silk Screens were once used to make your image, that is why you hear the term silk screen. What is a screen it is a 28x22 size screen that allows for a custom design to be created, The screen has tiny holes closer together compared to the screen on your window. An image need to be created on the screen for your shirt to print. Burning an image using a transparency from a black and white printer with an image printed on it. The transparency is then placed over a light table, a specialty glass table with light underneath. The screen is then placed coated with a thin coating liquid called emulsion that is dried onto a screen. When the screen is placed on top of the transparency on the light table. When the light is turned on the emulsion on the screen is activated to turn hard. Except in the place where no light hits, that is why a transparency is used. The light does not shine threw the image printed on the transparency. the Screen is then taken off the light table after a few minutes and sprayed with a hose, all the emulsion is hardened except where no light directly hit it. The soft emulsion is washed away leaving an image. The Screens are then attached to a screen print press. Ink is pushed threw the screen, where there is no emulsion the ink seeps threw onto the shirt creating your image. After the shirt is heated to 310 degrees to dry the ink and you have a shirt with your custom image. ...read more
