I live 21/2 hours from Dr Yockums' practice. When I feel that the diagnostics and care have to be the best available, I willingly make the trip. I'm a professional trainer, so in addition to my personal dogs I hear about the experiences of others and it's always positive. Dr. Yockum is a vet for grown ups looking for a no-nonsense approach-if your looking for the phony, 'I'm madly in love with your dog', over-the-top baby-talk, you'll have to go elsewhere. I have been taking my dogs to Dr. Yochum for several years. He likes animals more than people, in general. He gives excellent care, and doesn't overcharge, or require unnecessary treatments or inoculations. I didn't want him to suffer, and he went quickly and peacefully.\t\n\t\nThey don't do boarding. If they did, Southside would be my exclusive vet hospital. ...read more

He did surgery on my dog and treated her very roughly. She was so traumatized that she pooped on the table. He showed absolutely no concern whatsoever for her comfort. ...read more
