3rd story unit to a 3rd story unit in another building - he underbid and then asked me for more to compensate the movers. He also claimed he didn't realize it was a move to a different building yet they brought a truck....??? I foolishly paid over the quoted price and did it during the move thinking everything was going well. When they began to unload the items from the truck I realized nothing had been properly wrapped or padded and that my mattress had been drug across the ground leaving significant black dirt/oil/etc marks on it. My solid wood head and foot boards were dented and scratched. I showed him the damage and the way the items were packed in the truck and he agreed, but then proceeded to use the contract as his defense. So I asked him to follow the contract and return the overage that I paid him for his pity story about underbidding the job. He said he would - he promised he would. I also said I would take care of the one mover who had worked throughout the day by himself until the last 30 minutes of the move. I did so SUBSTANTIALLY and come to find out, the mover claimed I had not paid him so the owner Chris said I wasn't going to get the refund. Now I'm out 180% of the quoted price and STILL have to address my damages. I asked for insurance info to make a claim but he denies me that information. I wouldn't recommend this company for anything. I was nothing but honest and upfront with the man and he has acted like nothing but a crook. The contract is not to be trusted. I don't even know if he really is insured. If I could give less than one star I would be in the negatives. I am the General Manager of American Liberty Transportation addressing the previous review written by an anonymous person stating our "Drivers" are driving around under the influence. ALL of our drivers have to submit to mandatory drug screening, inclusive background searches before they are even allowed to drive for our company. The person who made this statement via internet has been found to be a boyfriend of an employees ex wife. We found this out after an investigation. This person was found to be upset because the ex wife was now residing temporarily with her ex husband, (our employee)It is a sad day when people try to harm a company's reputation due to their own personal relationships and statuses.
