Ahwatukee Little League

Ahwatukee Little League is NOT located in Mesa. It's located in Ahwatukee (hint hint, name *ahem*), with most games played at Ahwatukee Park and Mountain Vista Park. As far as youth baseball goes, it is what it is: daddy ball in its most disastrous form. Yes obviously parent volunteers are the primary driving force behind little league. Of course we all accept coach-fathers will give their kid priority play time. Here's the kicker with ALL: use daddy ball to attempt to win All Stars at all costs, even to the detriment of the quality of the team. Rules will be bent if not broken (coach using an illegal loaded bat for his team). All Star selections will be made as an agreement between dads to exclude those who genuinely earned a spot if a daddy's son occupies the same niche (saw it happen blatantly where a kid with a fantastic arm and the stats to back it up was PURPOSELY excluded from All Stars - now the sole kid from that year who has a D1 college commitment). Allow players into All Stars who didn't play the requisite number of games to earn a spot. The list goes on and on. This is the problem: one particular parent has driven the league to his own will for over 5 years, and will keep doing so until all his kids have finally aged out. The icing on the cake was ALL's masterful decision to take a headshop as a sponsor for the current season. This is a YOUTH sporting organization, with clear rules excluding smoking, adult entities, etc, as sponsors and advertisers. However the ALL board thought a shop specializing in marijuana smoking and edibles would make a fantastic sponsor for kids, displayed prominently at the venue. Needless to say common sense is lacking in ALL. If you have a choice, try Pony League, try Chandler Little League, get your kid into club baseball. But think twice about ALL, and be willing to accept frustration and disappointment in the micro management of the "volunteers" who are living their baseball fantasies out at the expense of the kids. ...read more

GOLFER'S NIGHTMARE!! I dropped off my golf clubs for new grips, this normally would take an hour or so to do. 3 days later - with no communication from this store, my clubs were not even touched. I walked to the register for the refund and overheard the associate tell the manager that "Yeah, I'm certified to do this, but it really isn't my job". The manager did not seem to have a problem with this excuse, nor did he seem concerned with such poor customer service on the part of this associate. YOU SUCK!!! I WONT BE BACK... ...read more

Thought management would appreciate knowing that Roberta was an exceptional sales person. Roberta assisted me to the point where I spend more money because she was holding everything I was buying and leaving my hands free to shop. I was truly impressed how her friendliness and smiles caught my attention. You truly need to pat her on the back for a job well done. I come to Arizona once a year to shop while photographing our baseball tournaments. I will look for Roberta next year. Thank you for a clean and neat store.. ...read more
