About Ash Fork, AZ
Ash Fork is a small community in Yavapai County, Arizona located on Historic Route 66.The town was named in 1883 by F. W. Smith, superintendent of the Sante Fe Railroad, supposedly because of the ash trees that lined the streets. Known for its large number of stone yards and quarries, Ash Fork is proclaimed as “The Flagstone Capital of the World.“ Places of interest in the Ash Fork area are Dante’s Descent and Cathedral Caves. A few parts of Ash Fork were selected for use as sets for the filming of the movie Universal Soldier. Some businesses in Ash Fork are The Levin Stone Company and Stoneworld. Public schools in Ash Fork are run by the Ash Fork Joint Unified School District. Other community services in the town are the Ash Fork Public Library and the Ash Fork Fire Department. One of the best places to visit when you are in the Ash Fork area is Grand Canyon National Park. The Grand Canyon is located approximately 60 miles northwest of Ash Fork.
