What Meats are High in Potassium?

Potassium is an essential mineral that helps the body's cells, vital organs, and tissues function correctly. Potassium can be obtained throughout various sources such as fruits, fish and various meats. In fact, some meats have very high potassium levels.

Fish and other seafood- Wild salmon, Jack mackerel, grouper, cod, halibut, and other types of fish have a significant amount of potassium. Grouper contains the highest amount of potassium. Fish is also a very nutritional food because it contains essential fats and protein.



Pork- Whole pork loins, ham, bacon, and pork chops contain a great amount of potassium. However, pork is also very high in fat. Consuming a lot of pork is not recommended for those who have high blood pressure.



Beef- Rib eyes, round bottoms, and chuck roast meats are high in potassium. Beef is also another great source of protein.



Not obtaining enough potassium can result in conditions such as hypertension and heart complications. The daily recommendation of potassium is at least 2,000 grams per day.
