Types of Real Estate Jobs
The real estate field offers a wide variety of work to those who have an interest in helping others. Real estate jobs range from actively selling properties to processing paperwork. If you have an interest in real estate, you should further explore your options in this growing field.
Real Estate Agent: A real estate agent lists properties for sale and works with clients to find them desirable homes in their price range. Real estate agents may choose to sell residential or commercial properties. A real estate agent will take clients on home showings and host open houses.
Property Manager: Property managers are responsible for leasing apartments, condos or commercial spaces. A property manager will screen tenants and lessees, perform credit checks and collect rental payments. If tenants are having any problems with their space, the property manager will oversee that those issues get fixed. In many apartments, there is a property manager who lives onsite.
Appraiser: Appraisers inspect homes and determine what the properties are worth. They compare the homes to other properties in the area that have recently sold to calculate a figure. An appraiser can help you determine if you are paying too much for a home or help a bank decide what it will accept for a short sale.
Loan Officer: A loan officer is an integral part of the home buying process. When you have settled on the home you wish to purchase, you will need to obtain financing. The loan officer will have you fill out paperwork and verify your employment and sources of income. Once this has been confirmed, the loan officer will find a lender who is willing to accept your application and offer you the lowest interest rate.
Closing Agent: A closing agent is also known as an escrow officer. Visiting a closing agent is the last step in the home buying process. A closing agent will have you fill out paperwork which transfers the title to your name. A deed of trust will also be signed, ensuring that you will keep your commitment to making your monthly payments on time. Once these important documents have been signed and processed, the keys will be yours.
