Porsche 928 Information

Porsche has been making cars since 1900. These automobiles have set a standard in the racing and luxury communities for over a hundred years. Certain models have specifications that will capture the heart of all automobile fanatics. The Cabriole and the 911 have won the hearts of many enthusiasts and Porsche continues to surprise and delight these connoisseurs.

The Porsche 928 was built to replace the 911 and was manufactured during the years 1977 to 1995. This sleek, designer vehicle owned the road with 219 horses under the hood. At 178 inches long, 74 inches wide and approximately 50 inches high this sport car turned heads everywhere it was driven. Porsche decided not to offer this classic in a soft top and opted to keep the sleek design of the hardtop for enthusiasts. This sport plus luxury automobile was offered in three and four speed automatic transmission, as well as, a five speed manual.

Over the years the 928 was manufactured the differences were slight, but effective. Starting out the Porsche 928 offered a 16 valve engine in 1978. During the next three years the changes included a battery box instead of the battery being mounted to the gearbox, the "S" series offered front and rear spoilers, and in 1981 Porsche came out with the competition package in the United States. In 1983, the engine displacement became larger instead of the steady 4.5 it became 4.7.

The normal 16 valve engine became a 32 valve engine for the North American market. In 1987 the body was changed for a better appearance. The rear lights were made larger and the front and rear bumpers were modified for spoilers and room for more torque. In the end the 1995 Porsche 928 had a GTS model that offered 5.4 engine displacement, 345 horses under the hood, certain models could be found with eight inch wide tires, the colors offered were Iris blue and Amazon green. Both colors were metallic in nature and had a grey interior.
